” .we both agree far more than we disagree, likely 95%+...”

Probably about the same percentage for me. My one sticky spot is Palin. I don’t trust her, because of what she said about McCain, when she came here to boost him.

Arizona Republic: Palin....” John McCain IS the Tea Party!

The very next day....”

Arizona Republic:....” John McCain is the REAL conservative”

These are verbatim quotes from this Phoenix, AZ newspaper

No sale. Lost integrity. I don’t trust her.

As for illegals, I’m with Doughty One. She keeps saying that she is for AZ, then reverts back to “ IMMIGRATION REFORM” You can’t have it both ways. OK, back to agreeing 95% again : )

If we’re going to hold others to a standard be it Obama, Clinton, Reid, Pelosi, Rubio, Christie, or anyone else, we need to hold the people we support to a standard too.

So name those you support.

Just curious. Do you even remember what the topic of this thread is?

I support all candidate’s in as much as I intend to hold their feet to the fire before I make a final determination and follow through. Some day maybe you’ll join me.

I understand.

I also understand why she would endorse the man who selected her as the veep candidate. I don't like it, but I get it.

She has never "reverted" since her support of the AZ law. She appears, at least, to be closer to our views than McCains on immigration. She remains a strong conservative voice, as Cruz has said, "without her I'm not in the senate". I appreciate the vast majority of what she does, says, and works for, it's really the same direction we all want.

As to illegals, I think D1, you and myself are more than 95% agreed.

Palin, Cruz, Levin, Rush.....

All fine voices of conservatism IMHO. There are more, but that should give you a basis of who I support.

As you can see, I disagree with D1 about Palin.

we both agree far more than we disagree, likely 95%+...

Probably about the same percentage for me. My one sticky spot is Palin. I don’t trust her, because of what she said about McCain, when she came here to boost him.  Arizona Republic: Palin....” John McCain IS the Tea Party!  The very next day....”  Arizona Republic:....” John McCain is the REAL conservative”  These are verbatim quotes from this Phoenix, AZ newspaper.  No sale. Lost integrity. I don’t trust her.  As for illegals, I’m with Doughty One. She keeps saying that she is for AZ, then reverts back to “ IMMIGRATION REFORM” You can’t have it both ways. OK, back to agreeing 95% again : )

LakeShark, you and I may agree on 95% of our beliefs, but I will admit to finding that hard to believe.  I don't like to carry on discussions across threads, but there are exceptions, and I think this is a case where it is called for.  I also try to let bygones be bygones too, but here again, I am pressed to recall some things that have taken place here for years.

I have bumped into you on thread after thread over the years, disagreeing with you time and again.  I'm not trying to be mean here.  I'm just not able to agree with your descriptor that you agree with JohnStephenBanker on 95% of the issues.  Being charitable, maybe you do.  Maybe I only bump into you on certain topics, and don't realize that our disagreements are limited to far fewer topics than I realize.  And being charitable again, I'm not perfect, so perhaps it is me who is wrong part of the time.  None the less, the impression I come away with is that you don't agree with StephenJohnBanker even 50% of the time.  Again, perhaps you do.  Perhaps you agree with him a lot more than I realize.

What bothers me on this thread is that statements are made, people provide video of the person in question making statements, they quote her statements, and it doesn't really affect your view.  You tell me that you and I agree on immigration, but when the candidate herself reveals that she doesn't, you diplay a mindset that reveals you're still a staunch supporter?  Why would you support someone who disagrees with you?  Well, you wouldn't.  Nobody would.  The sad truth is, you don't agree with me on immigration.  You merely say you do.

As I said in another post, I am inclined to like everyone.  It's when I'm gamed, not dealt with truthfully, that I lose the ability to be the friend of someone.

Why do you presist in acting this way?  Why do you make comments in posts that are stricken down by other comments you make in the same post?  It's unsettling to watch.

I don't dislike you, but you really aren't exactly what you pass yourself off as being.  That's not the act of someone who wants to be respected by others.

I’m not going to participate in a question of purity contest with you.

I have explained why I don’t think Palin would serve us well being a talking head at FoxNews. That pertains to this thread topic.

Asking me to list the people I support does not pertain to the topic of this thread. Those other people are not being reinstated to be talking heads on FoxNews.

So far, you haven’t been able to display a grasp of this.

SJB and myself have come to understand each other fairly well. We declared a flame truce well over a year ago, along with the poster mkjessup (almost two years?).

Since then, I know longer have to call it a truce, rather, I find we agree with each other well over 90% of the time, I think he will say the same.

I believe we (D1 and myself) haven't crossed swords since just prior to the reelection of Bambi, and prior to that neither of us were particularly kind to each other (understatement), much like the enmity between SJB Jessup and myself.

I use the 95% figure, I believe it to be true of SJB Jessup and myself, and it appears to be true of D1 and myself as well.

I think most of the 5% is over my support of, and your lack of support for Sarah Palin.

They do for me as well.

I’ve got every inclination to jump on board the support train of anyone who is a Conservative. Why would I not want to jump on Palin’s train, if she were truly a Conservative?

I advocate for Conservative things here daily. People know what I support and what I don’t. Why would I refuse to support someone who agreed with me on the most important issues? Well, I wouldn’t. I’m not.

I may not be happy about it, but I am not moved enough by some people to support them. Palin is one such individual.

Frankly, I wish I could.

Okay, that's good.  I'm not here to cause a rift between forum participants.  If that works for you two, I'm glad.

Since then, I know longer have to call it a truce, rather, I find we agree with each other well over 90% of the time, I think he will say the same.
And perhaps that is accurate.  I don't follow either of you closely enough to see your agreements/disagreements here.  You may agree most of the time.  If you do, I'm glad.

I believe we (D1 and myself) haven't crossed swords since just prior to the reelection of Bambi, and prior to that neither of us were particularly kind to each other (understatement), much like the enmity between SJB Jessup and myself.
I remember the go-rounds we had.  I had a nickname for you that I used on a number of occassions.  I remember not caring for the way you joined with others to attack folks on threads.  It particularly stood out to me, because I respected those folks and they agreed with me on those threads.  Once again, this pounded home the fact that you and I didn't agree 95% of the time, or anything close to it IMO.  I'm not trying to be mean here.  I'm just trying to be factually honest.

I use the 95% figure, I believe it to be true of SJB Jessup and myself, and it appears to be true of D1 and myself as well.
I don't want to be argumentative with you.  I have addressed this issue.  I want to explain why.  I try to remain consistent here.  I want folks to know where I stand on the issues, and I express myself at length so they can at least understand my rationalle even if they can't ultimately agree.  I want folks to know who I am.  Okay..., knowing who I am, if a person comes along and states that they agree with DoughtyOne 95% of the time, people would think they knew where that person stood most of the time, if they knew my views.  And yet, if that person were merely trying to game people and didn't share my views even close to 95% of the time, it would be my duty to object, explain why, and let folks know why that may not actually be true at all.

I don't want someone claiming to agree with me 95% of the time, to run around the forum attacking folks for beliefs I happen to share.  And this has happened countless times before.  If a person does that claiming to believe 95% of what I believe, it actually casts a shadow on my reputation.  I'm sorry LakeShark, but it's going to take a lot more time than a few weeks for seeming agreement after many years of disagreements for me to see your new demeanor as genuine.  And what's more, that's not really my fault.

I think most of the 5% is over my support of, and your lack of support for Sarah Palin.

Well I don't, but that's just my thought on it.

I'm sure this will look harsh to folks, but you and I have a history.  It's a long and rich one.  I honestly don't know what to make of your new demeanor, but if you changed to adopt it, you can change back just as easily.

I'll have to watch what takes place.  2014 and 2016 are coming.  I suspect I'm going to see the old LakeShark again.  So for now I'll be content to agree where I can, and disagree where I can't.  In short, I haven't changed.  We both know who has.
