HOUSTON – The Southern Baptist Convention, which represents thousands of churches that sponsor Boy Scout troops, approved a resolution opposing accepting gay scouts - with a top church leader predicting a "mass exodus" of youths from the program that has been a rite of passage for more than a century.
The move came as the convention held its annual, four-day meeting in Houston, and three weeks after the Boy Scouts of America voted to allow gay youth to join. With more than two-thirds of Boy Scout troops sponsored by religious organizations, and Baptists being the nation's largest protestant denomination, the strongly-worded resolution could have a crippling effect on the Boy Scouts.
"There will be a mass exodus over time," said Frank Page, president of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee. “Churches are finally going to have to come to realize – there is a point when you say, ‘sorry, no more.’"

The very idea that an Eagle Scout could be an openly practicing homo makes me sick to my stomach. It is the antithesis of the scout oath.
The Boy Scout Oath:Those words mean something, and you cannot change them simply because people with literally queer notions come along and demand it.
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country,
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake and morally straight.
You cannot do your duty to God, or be morally straight, by accepting openly gay/homo behavior as a part of scouting.

thanks, but that pissed me off, my oldest was to join seals so to say he might not be fit for a military pisses me off.
I;ve seen combat and don’t want my boys to see it, I don’t want them to fight for a Govt which would rather spy on us and not care about him.
Why should he lose limbs or his life while those who send him there care more about cocktail parties but to have someone say they are not men because they listen to me is out and out wrong.
My kids know I have been there, seen the problems I have had and they respect my knowledge and those who are older than themselves, never do they address someone and not say sir or mam and the help their elders

The condemnation they issued is IRRELEVANT and USELESS because
they failed to call for a boycott and separation.
They might as well have said “we are ok with it”.
Next year we will find out who the real target of this BSA policy change was.
Churches that continue to sponsor scout troops will now be extremely vulnerable to discrimination lawsuits that we know are coming... and the plaintiffs will win now because of this BSA policy change.
How about Royal Rangers, around for 50 years, since 1962.

I share your feelings, having been there I did not want mine to go for this government but they did in true Corps fashion and each did three in the sandbox and are now out. I have one left at home and I am trying to encourage him into something else.

This is patently false. The Boy Scouts do not have a gay pride merit badge. There are many good reasons to oppose the BSA's recent actions to allow self-identified gays under 18 to become members. There is reason to be concerned that this action may in the future lead to other more extreme policy changes.
However, it is counterproductive to conservative causes to state incorrect information like that. Myself and many others look to this site for information we can use to inform others in everyday conversation, and if we end up citing information that is just plain false, it reflects badly on the conservative cause.
The spirit of Anti-Christ is pervasive but is focused and strong in the Democratic Party because it is the spirit of the so-called Progressive movement begun in the late 1800's/early 1900's from which the bulk of the Democratic Party derives.
(I find it fascinating the many things including the Progressive Movement/Fabian Society/Marxism/Humanism/legal "realism", etc. coincides with the church age moving from the Philadelphia age to the Laodicean age which I believe took place around 1900. We are living in an exciting time - the age that will see a triumphant return of Jesus with His triumphant church.)
I’m glad you understand, I think the military I served in has changed in the last few years and they would be better at not going through with what I did and they have seen my nightmares and it’s not pretty.

It’d be nice to hear more about how worth while and healthy the Royal Rangers are these days as a way of influencing a mass migration from the BSA.
Bert has been trolling the BSA threads, basically accusing anyone who leaves over the gay issue of being disloyal and unworthy of being a Scout in the first place. Just ignore him - he has his head in a very dark and smelly place...
It is not the Reagan military I was in, that is for sure.
