House Speaker John Boehner today called NSA leaker Edward Snowden a “traitor” who put Americans at risk by releasing classified information to the media. “He’s a traitor,” the highest ranking Republican in the House of Representatives said in an extensive interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos. “The disclosure of this information puts Americans ... continued here

traitor?

He is not a traitor. That has a specific definition about intentionally betraying one's country to an enemy.

I personally think his action heroic...because the crime committed that he revealed is so great, and especially so in light of the fact that our government uses its data to target citizens for political reasons.

He revealed this information because of the violence it is doing to our Constitution. In that instance, any advantage gained by an enemy was not the purpose.

Now, the following is a picture of a sound file. It is DATA. But it is also the content. And they can keep talking about collecting "data" only, and very few are seeing through the ruse. Content IS data.

I don't know how the Jews felt about Medicare.

P.S. Don't take that train.

Life will not always just “go on”. THAT is what all of this police state crap is intended to bring about. You are free to think otherwise... until the powers that be decide that you will not. Stand against them now or accept your indentured future.

Unconstitutional laws are just that regardless of what our masters vote on. When the guy that wrote Patriot says this wasn’t in it, You have more than just a constitutional issue.

And I kinda doubt that if you ask clouds to stop raining on you, they will listen either.

Edward Snowden took an oath Speake Boehner. It goes like this:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God.
You took that same oath, Mr. speaker.

So, the oath is not to "obay orders," the oath is not to "follow the President," the oath is to the Constitution, not only to defend it, but to bear true faith and allegiance to it.

The 4th amendment of the US Constitution states:

4th Amendment: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Where is the probable cause against each individual that warrants the taking and searching of every citizen's emails, their phone calls, their postings on the internet, or any other of "their persons, houses, papers, and effects"?

I tell you, there is not.

So, Mr. Speaker, who is ther traitor?

Is it the man who exposes government officials and agencies who are abjectly violating this part of the Constitution?

No, most certainly not!

Or, it is the people who are planning and carrying out these searches and violations? Or, the people who support them in the commission of the same?

The answer is clear..

Mr. Speaker, you and so many others have completely forgotten who you serve, and the oath that you took.

Somehow, you have gotten the notion in your plush, regualr golfing appotiments, and being attended to by as many pages and interns as you can get, that you are a breed above the rest of uis. That somehow you are more enlightened than the people you serve. Well, Mr. Speaker, you and the others are not.

Any person who looks at these facts...at what is actually happening here, and the oaths you all took (and that I have taken as well), can see clearly what is going on. You have been caught with your hand in the PRISM cookie jar clear up to the shoulder.

We have a government, and agencies of government who have been proven to abuse the rights of the people for their own political, material, and ideologicla gain. Wether the IRS scandal, the scandal of the government infringing these rights against member sof the press because they do not like their avenue of research, or now, this much larger scale issue of the data being gathered on virtually all citizens.

It is clear this data will be used against people. Either for taxation purposes, the providing of healthcare, the supression of free speech...and ultimately for the incarceration of people (indeed it is already happening all around us) simply because the people who hold the reigns of power want to supress the activities of those who do not agree with them, or who will not follow in lock-step to their wishes and decrees.

NOT IN AMERICA, Boehner! You and your ilk had best change and return to the confines of your offices, and serve the people who elect you rathe rthan seek to rule over us...or, we will find people who will, or ultimately you will see what the founders meant when they said,

"...when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their (the people's) right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

Never allow yourself to believe that in this country, where our ancestors shed their blood to provide for the liberty of rising generations, that those words cannot apply to you and your ilk if you continue such usurpations and infringements.

“I’ve been told that one of the documents which Snowden has “leaked” is a copy of a FISA court order. My understanding is that FISA courts are composed of members of our judicial branch of government. A warrant is a court order.”

So? I fail to see the relevancy. Did it compromise National Security?

I would guess, and I could be wrong, that if he released that particular document, it would be to show the overreach of the Government program. Since it is apparently out there already, why don’t our Congress critters just go ahead and let me know what’s in it. Or maybe you could provide a link. I’m curious to see.

Do you really think that this is the first time folks have talked about the danger of a police state in America? If you're young, this may seem new to you. If you're a bit older, you'll have seen all this before and you'll understand that the police state won't be a reality for you much longer. ;-)

We'll get through it all, even if we have to change some laws here and there.

Stuff you don’t know regarding Petraeus.

Don’t know when it’s going to be released, and if it’s going to be here. But it’s gonna flip some lids.

Insightful post. And scary, because the NDAA DOES allow stuff to happen - perhaps even a drone assassination - to somebody who the government classifies as “belligerent”.

A parable: A little boy is supposed to be praying with his eyes closed. He opens his eyes in the middle of it and notices that the pastor is raping one of the girls. He screams and tells everybody what he saw, so the pastor has the boy thrown in jail for having his eyes open during the prayer. And the whole congregation goes along with it, including the girl who was being raped.

(And this isn’t far-flung at all because the IRS wanted to dictate what groups can say in their PRAYERS = and yet they let go the son of Bin Laden when he was caught at the finish line of the Boston marathon. After the FBI had searched his apartment and knew who he was, somebody removed the “known terrorist” classification, Michelle Obama visited him in person, and he was very quickly removed from the country so law enforcement couldn’t do anything about it. Whistleblowers in the FBI and/or CIA risked 20 years in prison to tell 10 members of Congress and Glenn Beck what had happened, and provide documentation of it. Beck provided the documentation to all the media, and NOT ONE editor would allow the reporters’ articles about it to be published.

They are ALL taking part in the rape, and they will all try to destroy the little boy who had his eyes open during the prayer to tell what is going on.

You know you live in an era of Newspeak when the sobbing sack of crap who’s voting to legalize 20 million future big government loving brownshirts calls the guy who exposed a horrifying government overreach a traitor.

What kind of dirt does the NSA have on Boehner, I wonder?

The truth is that Boner is the real traitor. Just like all the liberal anti-Contitutional Dems, No-Nothingp-Do-Nothing, Repugs, the greedy Clintons, and anyone else who espouses the totalitarianism of the sick Obamatron spying regime.

"There are more important things than money. If I were motivated by money, I could have sold these documents to any number of countries and gotten very rich." * * * "The great fear that I have regarding the outcome for America of these disclosures is that nothing will change. [People] won't be willing to take the risks necessary to stand up and fight to change things... And in the months ahead, the years ahead, it's only going to get worse. [The NSA will] say that... because of the crisis, the dangers that we face in the world, some new and unpredicted threat, we need more authority, we need more power, and there will be nothing the people can do at that point to oppose it. And it will be turnkey tyranny."

I guess my fundamental rights to "free political speech" were summarily abrogated by the elections of Clinton-Bush-Obama ?

LOL !

The FISA order implies that the judges who issued it thought that what they were doing is constitutional.

There’s no doubt to the average thinker that what we see is the republicans are afraid. The CEO of Home Depot referenced yesterday on Neil Cavuto’s show that the republicans were scared of Obama. He said he’s never seen anything like this as to what they are afraid of by not standing up to Obama’s abuses. I suspect they have been told something as; we have your personal info/blackmailed/like Justice Roberts caving on Obamacare. The republicans are a laughing stock though, it’s not even funny since Obama is a very dangerous intruder.

Ok Norm, while you adjust your tin foil hat, i will offer this...did you really just say constitutional vs political? You are a funny guy...and what does folks gettin killed have to do with anything? Seems to me like you and your bunch are cherry picking things to get spun up about. It was a simple question I asked. I dont mind stringing the both of them up, Im just trying to discern whether they are any different.

The best way to stop this collection of phone records would be to cut off its funding. Congress can do that. Call your Congressman. Don’t be surprised if he disagrees with you about all this.
***************
I have called my Congressman regarding cutting the funding to (fill-in-the-blank). I was told that the hands of Congress are tied, so-to-speak, because the President insists that what would be cut first are the military, veteran’s benefits, social security, and disability.

When will people wake up? When they feel the personal pain...

Sometimes I see who a post is by and just skip it because I know the poster has no credibility; they’ve been given facts and they refuse to process them. What’s sad is that they effectively muddy the waters for people who haven’t taken the time to find out what is fact and what is not. Without a clear trumpet call to battle, nobody will answer the call. And that’s what these agents are supposed to do - muddy up the trumpet call so nobody knows whether it’s time to engage or not.
