Follow the money, folks!
I live in the Marcellus Shale.
Our school district just cut taxes in half thanks to revenues from hydrocarbon extraction. It is a conservatively run district, so, they didn’t just “spend” the increased revenues....not something you see in the more liberally controlled school districts.
Even liberals have a hard time turning down money like that!
See FracFocus, What Chemicals Are Used.
In the irony of ironies, Beverly Hills High School has its own oil well...
Owners of surface rights are due compensation for disturbance of the surface, can rent out rights-of-way for roads, pipelines, etc, and are in a position to demand surface damages and production location rent as well, if production infrastructure is positioned or drilling activity is carried out on their property.
Have a knowledgeable attorney look over any contracts before signing--if it isn't in print, it isn't included--make sure the compensation is sufficient and comprehensive in print before signing.
Just leasing or owning mineral rights does not grant access or surface rights.
Boy that bring up a memory...
A freeper here eons ago and I got on the topic of micro-turbines and the exotic metals in any jet engine. he quipped ( and I can't remember the nick-name) of the enviromental types that buy up tracks of land full of minerals etc and sit on it for eons knowing full well it will be worth a fortune. His point was turbines would be cheaper if we went after the metals which the enviro-weenies are sitting on. I don't totally agree, they are expensive engines, but you get the point.
So what else is Reid sitting on?
I am so cynical that I would bet a donut and coffee that Prince Andrew in NY is stalling Fracking their so all the cronies, hacks and lackies and buy up the land and clean up in the deal...
Progressive / Liberals talk a good line about being for the people bla, bla, bla, but when it comes to their taxes or making money they are vicious, been their, done that...
That's why I posted a while back that the CA enviros would be thrown under the bus when it came to fracking - just TOO much money for the Democrats' other spending plans to resist.
mineral rights are owned by most farmers...My husband and I bought a 10 1/2 acre farm, we also at that time aquired the mineral rights....The law in that township said no farm animals unless you had over 10 acres...thats why it was sold and a 10 1/2 acre farm. Also affected our taxes as argiculture and not resident homestead.... This was back in 1985.
Fracturing = Earth Quakes
They already have fracturing drill baby drill
Well said -- all of your post. It's that part about CA sliding into a liberal dystopia that illustrates their total hypocrisy. Their actual self interest isn't financial, it's about power. And yes, it's nice to have other people's money around to finance more liberal lunacy as well...as long as the voters in Malibu, Santa Monica, San Francisco etc. aren't inconvenienced by the actual drilling.
: > )
Seriously though, things have changed a lot in the last few decades.
It's amazing because of the lack of future technology back towards the last few decades of the last century, alarmist/environmentalists were predicting running out of oil long before today.
The reserves are monumental with what has been found, and possible to extract, with the advances in technology.
Thanks neverdem.
Whoa, a glimmer of sanity here in California. Who’d a thunk it?
What this article shows is that for all their protested and fronted indifference to money, Democrats love money.
