VIDEO: FLASHBACK 2010: Facebook's Zuckerberg Says The Age of Privacy is Over

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg told a live audience yesterday that if he were to create Facebook again today, user information would by default be public, not private as it was for years until the company changed dramatically in December.

"A lot of companies would be trapped by the conventions and their legacies of what they've built, doing a privacy change - doing a privacy change for 350 million users is not the kind of thing that a lot of companies would do. But we viewed that as a really important thing, to always keep a beginner's mind and what would we do if we were starting the company now and we decided that these would be the social norms now and we just went for it."

That's Not a Believable Explanation

This is a radical change from the way that Zuckerberg pounded on the importance of user privacy for years. That your information would only be visible to the people you accept as friends was fundamental to the DNA of the social network that hundreds of millions of people have joined over these past few years. Privacy control, he told me less than 2 years ago, is "the vector around which Facebook operates."

Maybe he can Zuck himself, but he does have a point. If NSA is watching our phone calls, monitoring our credit cards and E-Mails, one can only conclude that they also track our movements, continuously - be it from cell phones, On-Star, toll road transponders, or license plate cameras.

To borrow a phrase from Star Trek: “Captain, we are being watched”.

I have heard the technology exists, for government drones (not the flying kind) to look into your room as you watch TV. I wonder if it is true?

He’s already posturing himself to avoid lawsuits. Of course it also means he’s handed over they keys of Facebook to 0’s NSA

Zuckerbarg has slit his own throat. Facebook is dead as of right now. I hope he likes selling lox and bagels in the Bronx.

For such a smart guy, it’s amazing how stupid he is.

And that is why this must not be codified into law, which Statists like Barack Hussein Obama, Eric Holder and Lindsey Graham seem to think is hunky dory, but it must be criminalized, with hefty prison sentences written into law.

This can and must be done.

Are we past the point and through the looking glass? I have no idea. I pray to God we aren’t, but I don’t know.

I certainly don’t approve of this crap. Even here in Houston, I don’t have a transponder on my car (when just about everyone else now does). I called Austin to ask what my privacy protections would be with a transponder. They didn’t know, and then they essentially laughed and said: “Do you want one or not”. I’ll probably get one soon, since DHS is now tracking us with license plate cameras anyway.

Seems the safest ways to communicate - though not perfect - are by snail mail and land line phone to land line phone...

And then ONLY if there are no smart phones, computers, smart appliances, home security systems, ipods, ipads, etc etc. etc within hearing range.

Jihad phones work pretty good too, but you must pay for them in cash, NEVER register them, and ONLY use them for ‘business’, ideally outside of your normal cell region.
