Same here: dad was in 8thAF; Father in Law TBF pilot; uncle flew PBYs and PBMs in Pacific; another uncle received silver star at The Bulge; another was a “frogman”; another in Army Air Corps...on and on...no slackers they. I bet they are all rolling over in their graves with this POS as CiC. My uncle was the last to go a year ago and left explicit instructions there was to be no mention of His Minimumess at his funeral. In fact, sounds like something I should do too just in case.
Is it unusual for a president not to mark D-Day?
By that I mean, has any president “Not” at least released a statement each year marking D-Day?
He won’t get away with it next year, as that will be the 70th anniversary.
As president and (ahem) ?leader? of the country, it is something that should/would be expected —— in a willingly way. But it would have been all about HIM, and any statements would have been prepared remarks, and all lies.

I too looked for any of the good old WWII movies and came up empty Not really surprised. WWII is so yesterday. Was told that the Military Channel had some WWII programming. Don’t know for sure since I do not have that channel.
Why? They bombed Pearl Harbor.
D-Day is all about our history and freedom, which Obama wants to ignore.
He wants to erase our history.
HE wants to erase our identity.
He wants to erase America.

This weekend at Fenway Park he’ll commemorate the homosexuals and blacks who died on the beaches during D-Day. A homosexual black marine will throw out the first pitch. The Red Sox fans will erupt with uncontrollable (picture the Beatles at Shea Stadium) approval.

For Obama every day is D-Day. “Destruction” of America Day. Why should yesterday be any different.
All the news out yesterday (D-Day) about the big brother surveillance of the American people. I bet the enemies of America around the world were celebrating. I know they are in the White House.
Agree. We must pray he stays away from things near and dear especially our fallen and their final resting places. No doubt he would only utter some Islamic thrashing of our dead, their deeds and our memories. Hope he returns to his home country when he is done destroying ours.

The "Mainstream Media" isn't just news programming - it's *all* of it. The gradual reduction of WWII-related movies and other programming with patriotic themes over the past decade has been especially noticeable. The networks had already been headed in that direction, but 9/11 caused a brief patriotic resurgence.
That dwindled quickly enough, though. Now they're back on course, trying to stamp-out anything that kindles nationalist pride.

He was located in N. Africa, the Mediterranean, Corsica and was a P-47 "jug" pilot. The link below is the story of that group.
He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 3 clusters. He retired a Brig Gen from the R.I. National Guard which he was one of the founding fathers. Died 11-11-11 on vets day. Sorely and sadly missed but remembered with honor and pride.
