The Global Dispatch reported:
The padlocks to hatches of an aqueduct outside of Boston that supplies drinking water to the metropolitan area were found cut Monday, leading to local concerns after there was a trespassing incident.
Officials say the drinking water does not appear to have been tampered with.
The CBS affiliate is reporting the details, noting that three padlocks were cut from separate access hatches located at approximately half-mile intervals along the aqueduct. Police say there is evidence of an attempt to cut a fourth lock.
State Police are investigating, though they say there is no evidence of any crime other than vandalism.
The MWRA says it doesnt appear anyone tried to tamper with the water supply and there does not appear to be any contamination or changes in water quality.....

They could throw in a basketball; sized ball of chemicals in a water soluable shell that would dissolve in minutes....
It would be too late in short order...
It’s not the real threat that is effective but the fear of a threat that will get people riled. People don’t know the difference between ppb and ppt for sure.
During the Fukashima disaster, there were reports of radiation in rainwater that was less than that found in a banana, but that did not stop talking heads on TV from freaking out.

Quite true D. But public fear and actual danger are two different things. Although neither is desirable, and both should be taken seriously.
No offense taken! My point was that if someone wants to drive a car through a restricted area badly enough to cut locks, maybe they have more on their mind than just partying.
By the way, most of the partiers I knew in high school and college were relatively mellow people, the kind who wouldn't normally be carrying bolt cutters around.

Apparently they are opening fences and taking down no trespassing signs at most of the aqueducts in that area. What could go wrong?
The American NRA played a significant role in arming the Home Guard in those early days of WW II.
During the weapons shortage, many Guardsmen were armed with pitchforks and shotguns. The British government seriously considered arming the rest with pikes. Just imagine, Guardsmen with pikes facing off against German paratroopers.
The British of those days...remarkable people.
And they would know the water supply has not been tampered with how?
It would seem that NYNY has a special place in their heart for those that fly into buildings and do things of that magnatude. Perhaps others should not be less trusting.
Oh, I don't know. People who wanted to party in restricted areas found a way back in the bad ol' days. Heck, some of our pranks would be borderline terrorist acts today. <^..^>
This is Boston ... that’s
Winna Winna, Chicken Dinna
Several years ago, in Sedona, AZ, a helicopter pilot took two or three ME men on a sight-seeing tour. BUT - the men had no interest in the views of the Native American dwellings, the canyons, mountains, desert or red rocks.
All they were interested in, was the water supply. Their interest alarmed the pilot, after questions about the water supply continued, and became almost obsessive.
The pilot returned them to the airport, and retrieved their license plate number from their car as they exited, and notified the FBI.
Nothing more was ever publically published about this incident, but it left the hair on the back of my neck, standing on edge.
“Back in 1984 I think...there was a water poisoning scare. I worked in the engineering department for the Monroe County Water Authority. Every morning and night, the boss would go out with a bucket of fish and dunk them in the water tower. None ever died.”
That explains the fishy taste in the water back then.
ALLAH ALLAH ALLAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey on Friday I was advised that a truck driver pulled out his prayer rug and faced Mecca in our parking lot at work. I was off that day and missed the whole thing. I would have been arrested for a hate crime if I would have witnessed this.
“Could not have happened to a more wonderful city.”
That’s what I keep thinking, they give us the Kennedy’s, Kerry, Frank and many others. It’s seems like there’s already plenty in the water. I can’t see any group managing to make it worse.

May 14, 2013 9:55 PM
BELCHERTOWN (CBS) Shortly after midnight Tuesday, seven people were caught trespassing at the Quabbin Reservoir.
State Police say the five men and two women are from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore, and cited their education and career interests for being in the area. The men told police they were chemical engineers and recent college graduates.
etc....................
Unfreaking-believable.
I guess it’s really going to come to mayhem and bloodshed before it gets turned around.
