“Latchkey” children were referred to as far back as the ‘30s, at least. It is Millenials and Gen-Xers who voted for Obama and his spending at higher rates than did the Boomers.
And the Boomers certainly didn’t have anything to do with creating the Ponzi scheme that is Social Security. If anything, they were afraid to rein it in for fear of being called ingenerous to their parents and grandparents, who created the system.

That is why having faith, friends, and interests are very important.

I think you’re exactly right. We remember a time when things were better. Our country is being taken from us, while we’re told to shut up and like it. And anyone with kids and grandkids has got to be filled with worry for what kind of hellhole this country will be for them.

Yep, the first generation to be medicated, day cared, swapping homes through joint custody, and have their futures wasted through riotous living. Each generation is worse than the one before. Starting with the Boomers.

Would be interesting to know just where in suburban Pittsburgh this guy lived. Some of the ex-steel towns in the Mon Valley are the most depressing places you could ever imagine.

Boomers got fat on the hog and left us to starve. What part of me working for the past 44 years qualifies as "fat on the hog"? Piss off xenob, your generalities are the work of a lazy intellect and your whining about how I'm screwing you is breaking my heart.

You know BigGirl, it’s tough for a man to develop interests outside the home. If you’re married you work and spend time with family. You don’t go out with the guys. It’s problematic. It’s a good way to be led off the straight and narrow. You have a rift at home, and some opportunity pops up. It looks real enticing.
A lot of guys would rather stay home with the person they love. If you’ve been in a relationship for many years, you generally don’t have a big group of guys you hang out with.

When I say, ‘need’, I’m not referring to capability. I’m referring to emotional closeness, Sunday night dinners sort of thing.

In the end, there will be angry blowback and it will not be pretty.I don't know which I fear more...that it will happen, or that it won't happen. A part of me says, "Bring it on. Let's get it over with."

What part of me working for the past 44 years qualifies as "fat on the hog"? Piss off...Thank you for this. As a baby boomer, I do get tired of the comments on FR blaming baby boomers for everything except tooth decay. There are good and bad people in all generations.
