Sapulpa, OK checking in. Safe for now, but there’s a bear of a storm just to our west. The next hour should prove interesting.
Nope! My storm just collapsed and petered out. All’s well in Sapulpa, OK. Prayers up for OKC!
How ‘bout Turn The Page?
Don’t you hate songs about songs, that is about theirselves? I do. If you don’t, then explain to me this typical of this subgenre lyric from “Fire and Rain”: “I woke up this morning and I wrote down this song”. What did he write down after waking up? I read it as that he wrote down “I woke up this morning and I wrote down this song”. Does this make sense? Does “This is your song” makes sense? What exactly is “your song”, “this is”? Please help, or Help please!
Thanks Kathy! Appreciate your posts and also your going back to find links for several of the songs I had posted... :-) I saw those earlier posts this a.m., but didn’t get a chance to actually post anything else until tonight. Haven’t heard anything news-wise all day— time to catch up.
Take care!
That’s what I’m doing...trying to catch up and listen to tornado coverage and pay attention to tonight’s music thread.
You take care as well.
There’s another music thread?
I don’t get out much... ;-)
Not sure I can speak to the specific songs, but, have you ever taken a couple mirrors and positioned them so they have that “endless” sort of tunnel look with a juxtaposition that approaches infinity?
I tried to find an example, but the one that I could find that shows it best I have to link to because it’s copyrighted:

I think, the song within a song thing is kind of like that. Either that, or those Russian nesting dolls.
Glad I could clear that up for you!
:-)
Well, exactly. “And you can tell everybody this is your song”. What is she (or he, since the author is Elton John) going to tell everybody is his song? Well, he can tell everybody that “You can tell everybody this is your song”. Everybody will be real confused, me thinks.
Please don’t make me post a picture of Captain Obvious.

What happened to #310?
He should have used this line in his introduction for The Plastic Ono Band in Toronto.

Have you ever had the misfortune to attend a Barry Manilow recital? I haven’t either, but I can imagine an audience singalong during one of those historic events - 10,000 people singing along with Barry: “I write the songs, I write the songs”. 10,000 people writing the songs, writing the songs. Fun!
