Great article by Sarah. One nitpick with the title, however. I cringe when I hear someone say “Happy Memorial Day”. To me, the day is one of somber remembrance of the dead who sacrificed themselves so the rest of us can enjoy our liberty. A time of quiet reflection and re-committment to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. I really wish there wasn’t a three day holiday associated with Memorial Day either. It diminishes the original intent, IMO.

Sarah doesn’t need anyone to write nor speak for her. She does very well on her own.

I wonder how much of these posts are Sarahs, I can answer that. All of them! She was a sports reporter and sports caster before she went into politics and that requires you to write copy for your reports. She is a bright lady.

Yep. I never associate “happy” with Memorial Day either. Growing up, it was always cemetery day.

The title is partly my fault since I linked to Conservatives4Palin rather than to her Facebook page. The title is Steve Flesher' doing, although Sarah used the greeting in the last line of her post.
However, no doubt at all that she understands the meaning of the Memorial Day as shown by the cartoons she added later on:

“Happy” Memorial Day?
Love ya, Sarah, but using the words “Happy” in conjunction with “Memorial Day” is... freakin’ annoying.

For the love of all who have ever worn the uniform, as a memorial to the service rendered, and in the spirit of those who paid the price we can never repay, may we mark this day by committing ourselves to the fundamental restoration of the greatest country on the face of the earth. Happy Memorial Day. We will never forget. - Sarah Palin Did she author the above?

Yep. I never associate happy with Memorial Day either. Think it makes a difference if you know somebody who served and has now passed or somebody who served and lost his life.
Can't help but think of an old friend when I was a kid, WWI Vet, master carpenter and cabinet maker.
Taught me everything I know about woodworking and good amount of common sense to boot.
Also remember a close high school friend who lost his life in Vietnam.
It's been 47 years and my old school friends and I always talk about him when we get together, was a good guy, probably had more sense than the rest of us put together.
Does make a difference in how you think about Memorial Day.

Don’t forget that she has a degree in Journalism. She doesn’t need speech writers. I always laugh when I hear/read people who think she’s just not quite smart enough to think of these things by herself.

Give it a break already.
What is it about Sarah Palin that people have to nit-pick the most inconsequential things about her?
She is almost the only, solitary voice out there attacking, without reservation, the evil that is the Obama regime and you have to attack her for using the word "Happy" in a manner you think is inappropriate?
I take it you never do anything that can be perceived by anyone else that is incorrect, right?

Sir or Madam,
I am critical of ANYONE who uses the phrase “Happy Memorial Day.”
I don’t care if it’s Sarah Palin or a respected family member.
It is an oxymoron.
