In the BSA’s official “Voice of the Scout” survey, which indicates a change in policy would prompt a mass exodus of scouts and leaders, respondents supported the current policy by a supermajority of 61 percent to 34 percent.
The Scouts count more than 2.7 million members and more than 1 million volunteers.
The resolution is a revision of a proposal issued in January that would have allowed local troops to decide whether or not to accept openly homosexual members and leaders. ..

Start local hiking, camping and wilderness clubs without a national organization. Who needs the national organization anyway? The books and guidelines are out there. We don’t need any new ones. Why can’t scout leaders in every town just abandon the national organization and start their own local clubs without a centralized bureaucracy? So we won’t have Philmont. For now... But do we really need Philmont?
There are probably 50 to 100 bureaucrats at the top of the national organization. Few of them have probably ever been on a hike. Who needs them!?!
It is frankly shocking to me, how far the Boy Scouts have fallen, in such a short time.
Maybe I just do not get it.
I see the organization I have most looked up to continually throughout my entire lifetime, surrendering.
For what? Boy Scouts stop quitting.
Remain firm. You have had the right idea now for generations.
Stop worrying about public opinion.
My son's troop has plenty of activities independent of the national organization.
BTW, American Heritage Girls is booming in this community.

With the military now openly embracing homosexuality on Obama’s watch, the Boy Scouts are the last and final bastion of moral strength in America - thus, they need to be destroyed at all costs.
But you’d miss out on all the coolest stuff the Scouts have to offer. All the high adventure stuff - Philmont, Seabase, etc. I’m saying my prayers that the Scouts survive this. I can tell you that while there is close to 50/50 sentiment on this vote from our council (Cradle of Liberty Philadelphia area), very few, if any, will leave if the ban is left in place.
It's high time communities take back youth programs. De-fund those national organizations that have an anti-family agenda.
School intramural sports programs instead of the status quot sports programs would also keep students off the streets, develop character, and sportsmanship. Presently thousands of dollars are spent on a handful of students at the expense of the rest of the student body, who sit on the sidelines.
What do they mean by openly homosexual? Does a boy have to be marching with a sign that says “I’m here and I’m queer, get used to it!”? I don’t see how sexuality figures in that much to what the Boy Scouts do. As part of their pledge to be “morally straight” they are expected to be chaste/abstinent. I would venture further to say that includes not discussing sex in a crude or vulgar way—whether it be heterosexual or otherwise.
What is the policy now? Is it a variation of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”? If a boy doesn’t state anything about his sexuality is he not questioned about it?
It’s more than just Obama.

No, “morally straight” can stay because homosexuals consider themselves highly “moral” and would not object to the terminology.
Nothing moral about another male wanting to have anal intercourse with another man, much less a child, and that’s what these perverted bastards want. The members of the Boy Scouts don’t want this garbage and if the board votes it in it will be exactly the same as some liberal judge saying queer marriage is fine, although the voters of a particular state voted it down.
You don't get it. If an American Heritage-type group rose to prominence as the preeminent youth organization in the U.S., the pedophile/fags would attack it with exactly the same venom as they do the Boy Scouts. They want NO organization to exist which espouses moral values.
The Boy Scouts may be the last stand.
Losing the most-left-wing 10% would likely strengthen the Scouts over the long term. Over the short-term, they would have to endure charges of being "homophobic" and increasing sanctions by the powers-that-be, which would include prohibitions against public schools having any association with scouting activities.
Do not be surprised if there's a movement to have scouting being considered a negative factor by college recruiters and employers.
Sexuality should not enter into the boy scout theme.
