It’s like Jack Nicholson giving the speech in A Few Good Men and then trying to walk out of the court room.

If you are a RAT in the present administration you can do just about anything.

I’m not a lawyer, but I agree with Gowdy. Issa blew it. He should have kept Lerner there all day and made he take the Fifth on every question. WTF is wrong with that guy?

The House needs to start issuing subpoenas.

"She ought to stand here and answer our questions," said Gowdy

And if she answered every one of those questions with "I refuse to answer on the grounds it might incriminate me" then what?

She did testify. She said that she did nothing wrong. She will not answer any questions, but she will testify that she did nothing illegal.

IMHO, the reason she first touted her innocence, then took the 5th, was because all she did was follow orders from above. She didn’t want to have to dime out the people above that gave the orders to harass conservative groups because it would ultimately lead to Obama and her life would become unbearable.

Perhaps it should be Mr. Gowdy’s committee since Mr. Issa is a n00b.

Sounds like congress got played for the fool by the Obama administration once again.

They allowed this corrupt official to give a self serving speech and then let her walk out on them when she pleaded the fifth ammendment.

IMHO they should have made her sit there and plead the 5th to every question. Then follow up by asking her to provide any related information on other administration officials that would not be self incriminating for her.

There is no doubt that she has information on the actions and conduct of others that would not be protected by the fifth ammendment.

She got away with it, so that is how it works.

Question for White House press secretary: How is it that when the official story was that targeting conservative and Jewish groups was “just a couple of rogue employees in Cincinnati” that a Washington based IRS head needs to plead the fifth amendment rather than testify before Congress?

In a sane world, the irs would be shut down and this (female of the dog species) would be in jail.

Taking the 5th, huh?

Does that also work when filling out your income tax form?

I am so disgusted with this government. At a private company, if I was involved in an internal investigation and refused to fully cooperate and answer questions, I would be immediately terminated and all pension/benefits eliminated as I would have been discharged “with cause”.

I am sick of this government. The same should happen to these people. Don’t want to answer the questions? Fine. immediate termination and no benefits/pension. Oh, by the way, you are still subject to a criminal investigation and jail if the investigation warrants such action.

I want out of this country. It is a lost cause.

With the exception of Gowdy, the GOP is stuck on stupid. Did these nitwits not even talk to one another prior to this hearing?

Yep. She testified that she did nothing wrong, and then said she wasn’t going to testify.

I thought it was interesting Lerner “refused to answer on grounds it may incriminate her” before we even for to a question mark. Have to wonder if Issa let her off the hook so he could find out if he could now compel her to testify (be cross examined) since she did make a statement. That would be a two (popcorn) bagger session!

Again my two favorite Representatives were Jim Jordan(Ohio) and James Lankford(Oklahoma). They have the best way of direct, precise and no fumbling around when questioning a witness. Can you say” Vice Presidential Canadates, 2016”?
They both are hitting it out of the park!
