Top White House aides first learned of a draft report detailing IRS abuses in targeting conservative groups in late April, but they chose to insulate President Obama by not informing him until it exploded in the press, the president’s spokesman said Monday.
White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters Monday that White House counsel Kathy Ruemmler learned about an IRS inspector general’s draft report looking into the singling out of conservative groups on April 24. She advised senior White House staff including chief of staff Denis McDonough — about the then-draft report, but Mr. Carney said she believed that Mr. Obama shouldn’t be told and other staffers followed her advice.
“To be clear, we knew the subject of the investigation and we knew of the nature of some of the potential findings, but we did not have a copy of the draft report,” he said. “We did not know the details, the scope or the motivation surrounding the misconduct, and we did not know who was responsible.”
Mr. Obama, as well as Mr. Carney, have said they did not know that the IRS was targeting conservative groups until news of the impending IRS inspector general’s report broke in the press May 10. Mr. Obama has said he will not tolerate the political targeting by the IRS and forced the resignation of acting IRS Commissioner Stephen Miller.

How can a man be such a micro manager on some things, and be totally clueless on others, esp when you consider that he was losing in the poles.

My guess is that Obama directed, very covertly, the entire operation with layer upon layer of plausible deniability
Well he seems to be responsible for surrounding himself with liars, thieves, and criminals. And that is what you would expect since he wants people just like him around him.
So, this administration is employing “plausible deniability”?? Yea, right, this is a real ethical bunch.

If this is the case, why wasn’t this said last week- this reason...that they were insulating him? Was this brought up?
Fine. However high it goes, that’s where the prison sentences go as well.
Didn’t Obama say during the first election “judge me by the people I surround myself with”.
Be prepared, this story is going to change at least three more times before it is over.
