‘What did you do when you found out?’: Rep. Darrell Issa slams lying-liar Dan Pfeiffer
Twitchy ^

Posted on 05/19/2013 11:36:14 AM PDT by Perdogg

White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said today that “the law is irrelevant” concerning the IRS’ targeting of conservatives.

Rep. Darrell Issa, who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Government reform, ripped into Pfeiffer for his absurd comments.

No doubt.

Mr. Issa has had an investigatory committee for as long as I can even remember, and what has been the practical result of it?

Nothing!

This crap has me absolutely furious. I have no faith, trust or respect for my government at all anymore.

It is time for people to be put in prison

The only people who can put these people in jail is either a special prosecutor or Eric Holder.

Issa has no authority to put anybody in jail.

Congress has no authority to put anybody in jail except for a citation for contempt of Congress. All that Congress can do is to refer the matter to Justice Department. If you think that's going to result in any prosecutions, then I have a bridge I'd like to sell you.

I’m all for hearings, and calling out liars on the Sunday shows. But it’s not enough, and the usual game is to take it no further than talk and symbolic gestures.

It’s time for real consequences. If that doesn’t happen after this round of scandals, then it’s obvious that there is no point in playing by the rules any longer.

Sometime doing the right thing means doing it alone. And don’t tell me they cannot defund the departments that crap on them.No American popular support required.

That’s called being a leader.

It’s the left who thinks Hicks’ testimony didn’t matter.

He had some very important testimony; most people here are very glad he had a chance to speak. I guess you were in favor of Obama’s attempt to keep him quiet rather than talk.

Because I am tired of no action being taken.

As are most conservatives but you must have noticed that Democrats are running most of the political machine in Washington and Obamas job approval rating is above 50%, even now.

Words on a tv show do not amount to squat.

Tough words on the internet don't mean squat, either.

However, congressional hearings do help public perception of the Obama administration as a corrupt regime that lies about everything. If you think public perceptions don't count, ask President Romney. Wait, you can't. He lost the election after being characterized as an out-of-touch multimillionaire who didn't care about the middle class. All crafted with lies, which were words used to present a false image of Romney.

Tough questions that illicit no answers amount to squat.

They are encouraging to those who oppose Obama and better than silence, which is tacit agreement.

It is time for people to be put in prison. Now. Not next week, not next month, not after the election. Now.

Few conservatives would argue against that outcome but we're dealing with the Obama Justice Department, headed by a very close personal friend of Obama, the radical leftist lawyer, Eric Holder. He is not going to do anything to anyone in the Obama administration if he can avoid it.

The GOP House doesn't have the guts to impeach Obama and he'll never be removed from office. However, some Obama administration members may go to prison. If you seriously think this will happen by pounding your keyboard and insulting guys like congressman Darrell Issa who are laying the groundwork that may bring that about, you are kidding yourself.

We have some conservatives assuring us that nothing will come of the scandals now cascading over the Obama White House (which is possible) while others sneer at congressional hearings and Representatives asking tough questions of Obama officials demanding that (Obama administration) people have to go to prison. Now.

Talking tough behind your keyboard is easy but that rhetoric is unrealistic. A congressional hearing was where Hillary Clinton uttered the phrase 'What does it matter?' that will haunt her and be part of GOP commercials if she runs for the Democrat presidential nomination. Congressional hearings led to Nixon's downfall. While they are not a panacea for exposing and punishing Obama administration misdeeds they are far from worthless and the politicians that organize and run them deserve some credit, not flippant insults and demands that cannot be met anytime soon.

When you can reason like an adult instead of a democrat, please come back and show us your improvement.

“Few conservatives would argue against that outcome but we’re dealing with the Obama Justice Department,”

Defund it. Congress HAS the authority.

When they comply, restart the cash flow.

On point Jim, thanks for a post with some actual logic within. The top defeatists are out in full force today.

I matters not how clearly you point out the reality of what can and cannot be done, they will continue to rail against the right, it’s disgusting imho.

Let ‘em fester in their anger and righteousness, they do NO favors to our side.

Nonetheless, I respect and appreciate your efforts to lay some facts on the table.

Hating is so much easier for some. Fighting requires getting off the couch and doing something!

“teach that hack neighbor of yours”

He’s hopeless Norm. He thinks it should just happen with no effort on his part. Luckily I have another neighbor who’s a world class guitarist. Just back from his second European Tour this year!

Then it’s time to charge some people with contempt of congress, jail them, and appoint a special prosecutor, isn’t it.

That’s exactly right.

This must be brought to a screeching halt right now, or it never will be, and the latter is not acceptable.

Yes, you’re right, I’m in favor of Obama’s attempt to keep him quiet.

Idiot.

Furthermore, what was the result of his talking?

-nothing-

Obama’s t.v. “spokespersons” on this morning were just blubbering and blabbering nonsensically; unable for once, to talk slick.

I do not have the power that congress HAS.

Congress refuses to employ its power, it refuses to engage it oversight, it refuses to hold anyone accountable for anything outside of big, bad baseball players.

Now is the time to lead from in front, if they cannot do that, then they should all resign.

Every last one of them.

Then be satisfied with abuse of power and no response, because that is all you are going to get.

"They [Issa] can certainly appoint special prosecutors"

Congress CANNOT appoint special prosecutors, much less congressional committee chairs. Special prosecutors can only be appointed by Attorney General Holder, and therefore, the President.

I would love for this to happen. I don’t understand why they have to wait until Holder approves. He recused himself on one scandal so how can he make the decision not to appoint special counsel?

I say, hire special counsel and have hearings everyday(possible). Tie up the Dems. drain the energy and resources. Make Harry Reid useless. The midterm elections and Hillary depend on it.
