TAMPA The son of a Lutz fertility doctor killed an ex-girlfriend's unborn child by tricking her into taking an abortion drug, federal authorities said Wednesday.
The act could put John Andrew Welden, 28, in prison for life.
Welden forged the doctor's signature on a prescription for Cytotec, relabeled a pill bottle as "Amoxicillin" and told the woman that his father wanted her on antibiotics, a federal prosecutor asserted Wednesday.
The incident occurred in March after an ultrasound at Dr. Stephen Ward Welden's office confirmed the pregnancy, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Steve Muldrow.
The doctor, a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist, has not been accused of any crime.

How much financial support will he get from daddy? My guess is however much it takes to keep him out of the slammer.
Is that his girlfriend ?
First, having lost a 6 week-old baby to miscarriage, I know first hand that what this man did WAS murder.
Second, The act could put John Andrew Welden, 28, in prison for life. Just like Gosnell? Can any one compare their actions and say they were morally equivalent?
Over the counter ru486...this will be the norm now.
So, just so I’m not missing anything.
If she had known what she was taking then it would have been OK. Same result for the baby. No crime..
But since he gave her the drug..then it is murder? Or some lesser equivalent. Same result, baby dead.
The hoops the liberal mind has to jump through on a daily basis is just astounding.
Of course! You don’t expect the FDA to be concerned about little details like women bleeding to death, do you?
Oh yeah, the OTC Plan B is gonna work out great.
I asked one of the ‘i’m proud of my abortion’ you tube women if she found it strange that the OTC high dose abortion pills are free for 15 year olds to get but for regular birth control, lower dose you need a script.
OT, did you hear about Oregon Health stem cell goings on?
Yeah. The Lord’s judgment cannot be too far in the future!
RU-486 is not over the counter. Never has been. Probably never will be.
Read the comments at the article. Some people are arguing how can the father of the child be charged with murder since it’s “legally OK” for the mother to kill the child via abortion.
It’s really distressing how morally bankrupt people are.
Some are also arguing for what some posters here have called a “paper abortion” — if the mother wants the child and the father does not, he gets to permanently sign away all responsibilities to raise the child to his/her 18th birthday.
And yet there are many more commenters who still haven’t grasped the idea that when a man and woman have sex, the woman gets pregnant. Why not practice abstinence? No sex, no pregnancy — but this is too much for them to process, apparently.
They have been conditioned to unthink that way
