Via Mediaite, it took a few days but at last we have some fall guys. Its ludicrous, of course, to think the problem was limited to two people the IG report last night specifically blamed ineffective management and, as Guy Benson reminds us, we already know that knowledge of the harassment went all the way up the chain but pay attention to the fine print in the video clip at 1:22. Miller, the commissioner, apparently acknowledged that the IRSs mishandling of this went beyond the two rogues. Evidently theyre setting up to put most of the blame on the two employees and then appease critics with some perfunctory mistakes were made shinola-eating from the higher-ups. All we need now is for some IRS exec to whine that the agencys gotten too big to manage effectively and the self-serving scandal narrative will be complete. An obvious question: When they say the employees went off the reservation, are they suggesting that theyre prepared to acknowledge that they had a malevolent political agenda as opposed to just being overzealous in policing 501(c)(4)s or whatever? Im keen to know what going rogue means in this case.
Meanwhile, Sean Higgins asks a good question: Why do the IG reports timelines of what happened in this case begin with a heavily redacted entry?
On top of page 13 is a graph titled Figure 5: Timeline of Events and Delays Involving the Processing of Potential Political Cases (******1***** through May 2012) that redacts the first item, not even giving a date. A spokesman for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee confirmed the ****1**** item was Treasurys style for redactions.
The mystery date was apparently February 25, 2010, based on two appendixes in the back of the report

Put the screws to them until they give up the bigger fish, rinse repeat.
The IRS threw the election. No doubt about it.
Let’s hope those two guys saved the blue dress.
From under the bus, son. From under the bus.
I worked for a large corporation for a very long time. I kept a file I called ‘The Red File’. Everything of any consequence was printed out and kept there. Came in pretty handy a couple of times. When I finally quit it went with me. ;)
cool. What kinds of things did you keep in there?
Ha Ha Ha. a couple of second rate burglars, that’s it.
Here’s the next tale, there were a couple of closet conservatives hoping to discredit the IRS and 0bama through subterfuge on the payroll of the Koch brothers.
I had one of those as well. I called mine the “Pearle Harbor File”.
You keep your Get Out Of Jail Free card from the President.
those “two” people have been really busy with all those claims I am hearing about that say they were targeted. Who says Gov’t workers don’t do much......... LOL
Just 2 people?
Whodda thunk?
[Whats that barnyard smell???]
“Ha Ha Ha. a couple of second rate burglars, thats it.”
I’m just afraid the press will buy it this time when the shoe is on the other foot.
Anything that could actually hold other people responsible for their own doings. Things that could keep my behind out of the dragnet.
Everything was done via email so I’d just print them out and file them.
I learned to do that when I was an eligibility worker. Since the ‘clients’ lie about everything to get their welfare, including things you have said to them, I documented every portion of our phone conversations/meetings in their file.
I learned a long time ago.......document document document and never trust anyone.
probably union employees, will get suspended with pay and then re-hired at a better position.
Really? Does anybody on the left or the right believe this load of BullCrap?
Just two people harassed 500 different groups? They must be the most productive people in Washington D.C.
