Across this great land, patriotic Americans are behaving subversively.
Were quoting from our pocket Constitutions, starting reading groups to discuss our founding documents, even gathering together to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Uncle Sam is not amused.
As leaders of tea party groups have been painfully aware for years, the Internal Revenue Service has given special attention to conservative groups.
Heritage sounded the alarm on the Obama Administrations hit list nearly a year ago. Idaho businessman Frank VanderSloot was singled out by the IRS and the Labor Department after making a sizable donation to Mitt Romney. Who ordered his investigation?

The IRS admits that in recent years it has zeroed in on organizations with tea party or patriot in their names. Further, The Wall Street Journal reports the IRS has also targeted groups that say they are worried about government spending, debt or taxes, and even ones that lobbied to make America a better place to live. Fox News adds that organizations interested in doing education on the Constitution and Bill of Rights made the list.
The goal was clearly to reduce the amount of anti-government speech by making it more difficult for these groups to achieve tax-exempt status. And it worked. Just look at these examples from four different states: ABC News reports that Jennifer Stefano of Pennsylvania wanted to start a tea party group, but dealing with the IRS was frightening and thats why I shut it down. I shut my group down. The IRS ordered an Ohio group to answer 35 detailed questions, including to provide a listing of all your past activities. Indicate the percentage of your time spent conducting the activity (total of all activities should equal 100%) and the percentage of your funds spent conducting the activity (total of all activities should equal 100%). In Tennessee, Kevin Kookogey was trying to start an educational group called Linchpins of Liberty to teach the economic principles of Milton Friedman and Adam Smith. When he inquired with the IRS in 2011 about the delay in his tax-exempt status, he was told: We have been waiting on guidance from our superiors as to your and similar organizations. He is still waiting. In Virginia, it took Richmond Tea Party President Larry Nordvig two and a half years to get tax-exempt status. He tells The Washington Post the wait had a very chilling effect on how much money his group could raise, and thus on how much speech it could generate.
How many groups are under scrutiny? That remains to be seen. President Obama said yesterday that the IRSs actions were intolerable and inexcusable and that regardless of how this conduct was allowed to take place, the bottom line is, it was wrong.
Our federal government was designed to be a neutral arbiter between competing private interests that would protect our liberties. Instead, it has morphed into a permanent interest group of its own.
In some ways, its almost as if weve disappointed our government by questioning it. As Bertolt Brecht quipped about the late, unlamented East Germany:
The people Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only By redoubled efforts.
So heres a charge to all tea partiers, and indeed all patriotic Americans of any political bent: Lets redouble our effortsto limit government and promote freedom.
Doing so may anger Big Brother, but it will protect the liberty of all Americans.
Here we have an unconscious, phony tyrant who has about as much business being in the White Hut, being the head of the nation's government and international affairs as a pig in Sunday school.
but they don`t do takeout anymore.
I wonder how many times Jim Robinson has been audited by the IRS for his political leanings. I would bet at least once. All the parties affected by this IRS treatment should bring a class action suit and FOIA requests.

What has this got to do with “Conservative groups” ???
Willard is a life long Liberal ...
and hardly a “Patriot”
the funniest part of this whole story is the fact that some Jewish groups were also the target of the fascist Obama thugs.
If someone from the IRS would like to stop by I would be happy to explain it to them.
I could see the writing on the wall back then because I was reading WHI comments about Jarrett. Never will sign with one of these groups and as a matter of fact I’m switching my affiliation to unenrolled.
I’m getting off the grid (so to speak).
Actually, I am a Minuteman!

Great idea! The best way to beat governments is to use their own laws against them.

“....as a pig in Sunday school....”
The pig at least has the POTENTIAL to learn something of a higher morality. The Current Regime is incapable of processing any concept that exists outside their own universe.
And that includes common decency and the capacity to feel shame at their transgressions. They consider that as only “getting even”.
In life, “getting even” is an impossible task. Those who subscribe to the notion are either hopelessly enslaved, or they become tyrants in their own right. There is no “even”, there is only some degree of parity, which varies depending on the ongoing process of the negotiations.
Those who want to “get even” do not wish to negotiate.
Should we ask him?
How many bureaucrats are busily reading postings on this website in order to zero in on us?
There’s a soul food restaurant and a brewery of sorts in the large residence on Pennsylvania Ave. now commonly referred to as the White Hut.
They don’t do take out either.
Quite a few “progresive” political operatives, of that I am sure.
All patriots could get a PATRIOT stamp and red ink, and stamp all our envelopes and our 1040’s with it.
Why is anybody surprised? This is how the left operates.
Since the Republicans control the House it’s time to push for the organization of two Select Committiees. One for Bengahzi and the other for the IRS. Not this smathering of House committees on portions of both which will wind up being ineffective.
Let’s take the IRS thingy. There’s a chain of command that these bureaucracies have to get anything done. The first question to be asked is:
Who authorized the development of this illegal computer program designed to identify organizations filing for non profit status opposed to government or administration policy ?
NOTE SINCE WE’RE PLAYING WORD GAMES HERE THAT IS THE WAY THAT SHOULD BE REFERENCED...*ILLEGALY SEEKING THOSE OPPOSED TO OR QUESTION ADMINISTRATION POLICY *court ordered
Then go on from there;
Include the dispersal of the program, the development of the followup forms and questionaire etc and worse yet distribution of results to political opponents.
Now with Bengahzi you have a bunch of committees combine them. Hold hearings alternately so that the focus does not get diluted. IRS one week, Bengahzi the following week, if members of the media who are covering any of these hearings get too protective challange them by name. Put them on the stand. Ask who their bosses are in the line of questioning and the instructions on coverage they were given.
.
F’em. This is how Commies operate. Every moment one must stand in the face of tyranny. F’em.
Contrary to many FReeper's wishes, I don't think there's some overreaching conspiracy, with BO (or his handlers) as the puppetmaster. They're not smart enough for something like that. Additionally, they'd all worry about someone blabbing, and would spend more time knifing each other in the back, than on any actual conspiracy.
No, like you, I think that it's a lot more simple. Like-thinking people move in herds. So what may appear as a massive conspiracy, is just a buch of liberals just doing what liberals do.
The problem isn't with the presidency - though he does set the tone. The problem is with a million unthinking career bureaucrats in the government establishment, all moving as a monolith.
