Nine days after Tebow was released by the New York Jets, it has become increasingly clear that the ultra-popular quarterback who has hijacked many a news cycle has no viable landing spot. No NFL team seems to want him as a starter, backup, converted H-back or fake-punt decoy and it's not like he's fending off big-money offers from Canada, either. Now, here's the interesting part: Tebowmania is at least partly to blame.

Not only that, but when he is in the backfield any apparent run could be a pass play, and the defense has to cover accordingly. Shotgun and wildcat offenses with him at blocking back would be great for him.
Rams vs 49ers at the dome in STL, December 2012. Members of both teams prayed in the end zone both before and after the game.
... he’s not good at QBing. And yeah Tebowmania probably does hold him back. His two stops in the NFL both turned into massive QB controversies because he’s got this huge crowd of crazy fans that want him to start and pay no attention to his stats. No GM or coach wants an instant controversy involving a guy that’ll wind up 3rd on the depth chart.
The Jets waiting until after the draft to release Tebow did not help.
Tebow is no Manning, and never will be.
By all accounts I’ve read if you see the guy in practice it’s a horror show. Most fans don’t get to see practices but insiders do and since “you play how you practice” that’s apparently been the real show stopper. From what I’ve read.
He hasn’t really been blackballed. He was mismanaged by the Jets. They tried to trade him, but every knew they wanted to get rid of him and would dump him so they could get him for free, so nobody offered anything good in trade (why pay for a player you can get off waivers). The Jets then didn’t waive him until after the draft, when everybody’s roster is full and their primary goal is signing their new drafts. If they’d dumped him earlier somebody might have gone for it. Figure when training camp starts some team will be unhappy with what they’ve got and make a go. But of course the list is shorter now because the goal coming out of the draft is to have your lineup. Nobody is ever blackballed, but it’s a matter of him and a team being lined up in what they want and what he’ll give. If he was willing to be a trick play RB he’d get a lot more openings. But in a world where Brian Urlacher is currently lacking a team he needs to understand teams are being picky right now, they aren’t going to over pay, and they aren’t going to sign guys that don’t fit perfectly into what they want.
Tebows stats were a little bit better than you thought.
Next time you MIGHT want to look at them before you make a ass of yourself.
I watched some idiot named Rome last night eviscerate him with plenty digs at his religion
That's true.
“If Tebow could throw against corners like Ike Taylor and Charles Dimry every week he might, might get another shot but he can’t and thus he most likely won’t.”
Yeah, all he ever really did was throw for 306 yards and a playoff win against the top passing defense at the time. Anyone could do that, right?
Then there are his leadership qualities...
I’d actually like to see the Chargers pick him up as a backup, Philip Rivers is getting old for an NFL QB.
I admire and respect Tebow’s faith and skills and power...wow
But am I the only one recalls Gino Torreta
I watched him at Orange Bowl home games for years
He is man
Pros...fizzled....it happens
Didn’t say he was. I was just pointing out that Tebow is no slouch, either. According to Cold Hard Football Facts, based on Tebow’s statistics, he was probably better than 14 starting quarterbacks last year. He needs the right spot, the right coach, and the right playbook. He has never had all three at once.
No problem. I was only interested in the NFL to watch Tim Tebow. I can now use my time for better pursuits. (When he was a QB in high school Tim Tebow cost our own “Armwood Hawks” the state title, and I’ve been following him ever since).
I never said I played in the NFL. I recognize the experts did award a Heisman trophy to Tebow for a reason. I also recognize armchair athletes of any sort. I was a college level athlete and have heard lots of unqualified critiques.
Now is the time for Tebow to come out and say he has seen the error of his ways and to announce he is gay.
They may make him commissioner.
I heard that during the winter meetings the owners even discussed changing the name of the Tight End position to "Loose End". Wide receiver was determined tio be fine.
He should be able to throw much crisper interceptions with Testaverde's assistance.
How many built a hospital... by raising funds through a foundation after his 2nd year as a pro?
Find the newspaper article, hop to it.
The kid is guilty of marketing, the whole NFL is a show.
“the whole NFL is a show.”
I agree, the the NFL is entertainment. No place for religion.
