Texas Gov. Rick Perry might not have been able to name three federal agencies he'd close, but he has his sights on attracting at least that many Connecticut gun manufacturers and he used the NRA convention in Houston over the last four days to make his best pitch.

The left, immediately, pokes fun of Governor Perry, right in the first sentence.

What is Connecticut going to do to attract gunmakers or keep them? Threaten them with oppressive laws and production difficulties?

Well a similar question came to mind when I read the full article.

Malkowski said they were examining offers from several states to move Stag Arms. I wondered whether there was an offer from CT to stay.

1. He’s bringing American based manufacturing jobs to Texas - the type of jobs everyone says they want to keep, but Connecticut is driving away.
2. If Texas secedes, it’s got more local weapons manufacturing.
3. If it stays in the union, it can ignore federal laws on ammo and gun manufacturing by saying, “It’s legal to do whatever you want with Texas made guns and ammo.”

Actually, even without seceding, that bill is curently in the Texas Legislature. HB872 (guns/ammo/accessories manufactured in Texas which stay in Texas are exempt from Fed laws) has had its committee hearing and is awaiting a vote before it will go before the full House.

Dan Haar is a pretty fair writer...considering it’s the HC. ;)
