Native Americans incensed over pro-gun rights billboard in Colorado (Great Billboard tho)

Two billboards in which images of Native Americans are used to make a gun rights argument are causing a stir with some Colorado residents who say the image is offensive and insensitive.

The billboards in this northern Colorado city show three men dressed in traditional Native American attire and the words "Turn in your arms. The government will take care of you."

Matt Wells, an account executive with Lamar Advertising in Denver, said Monday that a group of local residents purchased the space.

"They have asked to remain anonymous," he said.

He also refused to disclose the cost but said the billboards are only appearing in the Greeley area. Wells said he has not received any complaints so far.

"I think it's a little bit extreme, of course, but I think people are really worried about their gun rights and what liberties are going to be taken away," Wells told the Greeley Tribune.

Indians and blacks has been usurped by the liberal feel good machine. Just drive through a reservation or black slum and see what the dims have done for them. Sadly, they want to blame everyone but the hand that dealt it to them.

I agree with you, Interestingly enough, both groups tend to live in “Food Deserts” of one sort or another. Now imagine what “will” happen when, (not if), the EBT cards run out or the “Food Convoys” don’t arrive when they are needed. Both of these groups of dependent people are going to go searching for food. And being hungry they are going to take it if it is not surrendered to them.

In the Case of the Urban group they are going to leave a path of destruction behind them. The Indians are actually in a worse spot in a way. Most reservations, (Not ALL of them), are in lousy locations for the gathering of food. And on many the planting of fruit trees and crops has been discouraged for one reason or another. Some are for lack of “water rights” to keep them irrigated. Others are by “rules and regulations”. Or at least I was told so by some Indian friends I made in the Service decades ago now.

I’m not really sure what will happen to them in the long run. But leaving may be the only answer if it comes down to personal survival.

If you were born in America than you are a native American. From a constitutional perspective in determining citizenship your lineage is only important as far back as your parents. I guess how long someone's ancestors have been in America might be interesting but it does not determine how "native" someone is. There is no degree in the term, you either are or you aren't.

This is just a pet peeve of mine. No offense intended to you and yours.

And liberals ignore the consequences of the policies they support like it was the Gosnell trial.

I am Ani-Yun-Wiya and remembering what Andrew Jackson did to my ancestors after they saved his butt at Horshoe Bend, I agree 100% with the billboard...

They don't just want to shut you up - they want to enslave you or kill you.

One step at a time. First is shutting you up, which prevents rallying any resistance. Then, once you're nice and docile, they expand control. It's worked very well for them so far.

That being said, I am wondering why Native Americans have issue with this billboard?

Most would not. But it is a typical leftist tactic to take statements from members of a group that support a leftist cause, and imply that all members of the group agree with them. The MSM uses this very effectively, because when they contolled the information flow, they got to decide who was a legitimate representative, and who was not.

I was attending a party given by some neighbors who were very wealthy...Several of the guests were British and New England “bluebloods”...Talk began about whose ancestors came here first and settled in what towns...Finally, someone asked me about MY ancestors...I quietened down the party when I replied, “My ancestors probably scalped your ancestors...” *ROFL*

Great billboard, especially because the Marxists are boxed in.

Their only defense is “insensitivity.” Good luck with that.

Accusations of racism and political correctness have been very effective weapons in expanding Marxism.

Just as an aside, “political correctness” was called “cultural Marxism” by its inventors.

Something ain't right here? I live 2 miles from an Indian village here along the Yukon. You won't find a more pro active bunch that is quick to tell the feds to put it where the sun don't shine, and they stick together, not beg & grovel on the ground like the Whites do when told what to do by the Feds, no joke. We could learn a little from them Indians, they've realized the feds can't lock them all up and the feds leave them be rather than stir them up.

They luv their guns too, only problem is they never have much ammo as all their govt money goes for booze, not ammo. Good bunch just the same. They'd all agree with the billboard.

“... pet peeve... no offense intended”.

Not offended at all, love. Personally, I see all Americans as Americans first. Maybe that is my problem. Ethnic lineage is second and just an interesting footnote so to speak. For example, I know a lot of black kids that will nicely correct you if you use the term, “African American”. They simply say they are not African, no nothing of Africa and are simply Americans with darker skin coloring than mine. Did my heart good when that conversation went on!

The massacre at Wounded Knee started when the Army sought to forcibly disarm the Native Americans they had rounded up.

Not an unusual occurrence in wartime. I suspect the Army also disarmed captured German soldiers in WWII.

The Sioux were at war with the US, as can be seen by the acquittal for this reason of several Sioux warriors charged with murder for killings committed during this period.

There’s a lot to learn from what happened at Wounded Knee. It was not a shining example of US Army good behavior.

But it has very little applicability to today’s 2A issues.
