The State Department is blocking local lawyer Victoria Toensing from representing whistleblowers on the 2012 Benghazi attacks, according to her legal partner and husband Joe DiGenova. Teonsing wants to represent such whistleblowers at the upcoming Congressional hearings about the Benghazi case.
"The Department of State is refusing to grant clearances to Victoria and other people who want to represent the whistleblowers in an attempt to prevent the testimony," DiGenova said.
Yes, she does. THAT is going to be a problem for whoever is stalling her.
Look no further it seems to me that the coverups of the coverups, and the refusal to cooperate with an investigation is enough to impeach Obama.
Oh, fer cryin' out loud, has it occurred to you that the "silence" might stem from the fact there has been bare hours since this news broke?
And has it occurred to you that the reason this IS news is because Issa and the Government Oversight committee wrote a letter to the State Department advising them cooperate with any and all lawyers who might represent any whistleblowers?
I would expect a strong response from Issa and his committee as soon as they've had time to digest State's position and formulate a response.
The 'Pubbies aren't the best in the world at controlling the media cycle, but Issa has yet to drop the ball on any of his committee's investigations. And there is certainly no reason to find fault in this case...yet.
State is taking this action in response to a letter from Issa and his committee telling them to cooperate with lawyers representing the whistleblowers.
Issa has followed up on Fast & Furious in the courts -- a case he will win. He'll follow up on this one, too.
Sure their is.
1: Issa has thus far made nothing but noise and shuts uo when the left screams...SOP for the GOP
2: Issa’s repeated use of the above technique causes the crisis of faith that keeps Dems pushing ever harder (thus accelerating the cycle) and potential whistle blowers from sticking their necks out...because thusfar no help seem forthcoming.
Now after watching the GOP performance on everything from voting laws to Benghazi to Obamacare to gay marriage to abortion to immigration (and yes, Gun control despite their soon to be rehashed win and screaming at Cruz about it) you think there is a reason to trust them, be my guest. I’ll verify, THEN trust.
Oh and lets remember F&F in which he sat there and let Holder steamroller him on national TV. Months have passed IN SILENCE while it meanders its way through the courts and Holder KEEPS SCREWING AMERICA.
Yea...big push from the GOP to stop him...
You would have Issa scream and writhe and make faces, instead?
To what end? The media isn't going to pay attention. Otherwise, it's empty showboating.
This is a deadly serious business and Issa is diligently following due process. He'll win this trial. Whereupon, Holder and Obama will have to beat a legal retreat -- and we'll go on to the next delaying tactic. In the end, persistence is what will win -- not showmanship.
I would have him force the issues obama steamrolls him with. FF, Benghazi all of it. When you explain why he does not exercize his authority to go to the supremes each and every time he is obstructed and file for expidited rulings, I am more than willing to listen.
When a puppy whizzes on the floor, you don’t wait to rub his nose in it. How many times does the admin need to whiz on the Constitution before Issa mans up and stops playing by their rules, thus dragging all this out and giving Cloward Piven more time to take hold?
Or do you prefer Queenbury rules in a street fight?
Seems to me that, when he has been obstructed, that's exactly what he has done -- gone straight to the courts.
He'll win this round...and the slog will continue.
I 'm curious, though, why does his "authority" allow him to go to the "supremes each and every time"?
Because he has it and when national security is the issue...and it is, there is no time to play games with lesser courts.
You and I might agree with that assessment, but I rather doubt that the case has yet been sufficiently built for the SCOTUS to snap to atteention.
Look, I'm sensitive to your point of view. And I share your impatience.
But Fast & Furious and Benghazi are both hugely significant affairs. And pursuing both of them will have to work uphill, against the media current and in spite of voter apathy, misinformation and disinformation.
Personally, I respect the fact that Issa has been patient...and persistent. That he has not grandstanded and gone out on a limb, leaving himself (and his committee) open to ridicule. Joe McCarthy is not what we need right now.
Maybe, I'm wrong...maybe Issa is just playing politics until the next election. Maybe he'll let the case lapse when he's extracted maximum political coin from it. Maybe, in a burst of bi-partisanship, Boehner won't let Issa pursue the case to its logical conclusion.
But, so far, I believe Issa has performed precisely as necessary to bring these cases to a successful conclusion.
Have you seen the couple lists posted lately on Obama’s potentially impeachable offenses? Seriously, not being a smart ass.
The sheer volume there including the FF/Benghazi info is staggering. It is a crome that no GOP pol has filed papers. That bieng the case, there is plenty of ‘history’ so to speak to get the supremes online.
Search for ‘167 things’ and the threads should come up.
I've no doubt whatsoever that this President has committed impeachable acts. His malignant attitude toward the office and his malevolence toward the Constitution and the country marks him as an anti-American.
But....do you remember the Clinton impeachment? No hard judgment was required. Clinton was supremely guilty of both perjury and obstruction of justice, in trying to defend himself from a legitimate charge of sexual harrassment.
In other words, B.J. Clinton was guilty seven ways from Sunday. After the trial was over, even Sen. Robert Byrd admitted that Clinton was a.) guilty and b.) it was an impeachable offense, rising "to the level".
Given that another Democrat escaped an open & shut impeachment conviction, how do you suppose an Obama impeachment would turn out?
Though Trent Lott was hardly a tower of power, a pillar of righteousness, you can hardly blame the Republicans for the outcome. Yeah, there was Arlen Specter, et al. But 50 of 55 Republican Senators voted to convict -- and not a single Democrat voted to convict!
So long as there are as many as 34 Democrats in the Senate, no impeachment motion of a Democrat President is ever going to succeed. That is simply a political fact of life.
Impeachment is not going to happen! Because the Democrat party is too damned corrupt.
All of which boils down to this: If we ever want to get this nation back on the path to prosperity and liberty, we will have to elect a president and a Congress that has no -- or a negligible number of -- Democrats in it.
If we ever want to win another war, we cannot afford to have a meaningful Democrat presence in the government.
It's not that Republicans are the "good guys". But the Democrats are damn straight the "bad guys".
I know it will never get through. But it has to be done just to stop the march of rewriting history into Obama the Magnificient.
And just tying him up will make more edicts all the harder to pass. Remember, this isn’t a sex thing. This is hard evidence the msm can try spinning. but if a pubbie ever dumped it all and pushed it, there is too much to bury and spin away.
We have to do everything we can, no matter the odds. It’s what the founders would have done. Fought.
I have no better reason I can give and if I am wrong, well, What else can I do.
But, as yet, there is no proof of wrongdoing. Only judgmental assertions.
When, as and if there is undeniable proof -- and the associated outrage -- at the deaths of 400 Mexicans or 4 Americans in Benghazi, you are howling at the moon.
Perhaps, it will come to that. But until two...dozen... Democrats are prepared to vote guilty to save their own sorry butts, it's not going to happen.
Which means that the Democrat party needs to be threatened with permanent extinction.
Were that it were so...
We can only hope that if the cracks in the dam appear, that they will do exactly that. Save or attempt to, their butts. And since we know how much they value those, Obama could have a problem. But those cracks never will crack unless the GOP gets off their asses and forces them open.
