Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform (March 19, 2013 Article)

WASHINGTON — Sen. Rand Paul is calling for conservatives to embrace the cause of immigration reform, outlining a proposal that would grant some form of legal status to the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants after the federal government has certified that the border is secure.

Paul’s proposal, outlined in a speech to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Washington on Tuesday, carefully avoided the term citizenship. Instead, the Kentucky senator said he sought a middle ground that would include a multi-year process of granting visas to undocumented workers that would hinge on the annual verification of the security of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Paul echoed the key finding of an internal review from the Republican National Committee that called for the party to recast its image in order to attract minority voters, saying the GOP must change the perception of the party as anti-immigrant.

Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but “Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration.”

If he’s not talking citizenship, I am listening. I would like to see a worker program to deal with this problem. We have to get these millions of people into a legal status. I don’t want to see that be a path to citizenship. Essentially, it is a do-over. Combine that with border control, enforcement of business laws and deporting criminals, and that is reasonable. If the person breaks the law, legal worker or to, then they go bye bye.

30 million now

millions more each year due to increased quotas

chain immigration over twenty years

easily 125 million foreign nationals become U. S. Citizens over twenty years

and people will still cross our borders illegally no matter what we do

The Dems are LOW-BALLING the number...lying as usual...we need to call them out.

They've been using that number for almost 20 years now. What they don't want you to know is that they are breeding like rabbits. And we pay for it!

Let’s use Arizona’s plan:

The overarching theme was a push for “attrition through enforcement” — passing strict laws designed to deter more illegal immigrants from coming to Arizona and to encourage those already here to leave.

You're probably right.

As sick as the country is presently even 20 million illegals legalized immediately would be more than enough to transform this country in ten years into another Brazil demographically, socially, geostrategically, etc.

Eisenhower a Republican President took care of illegal Mexicans : he deported deep into Mexico . that is the only solution, not a 1500 page Amnesty bill that will let in the 100 million you say it will

We have to agree to disagree on some points. I think they will self deport but i will not argue your point.
We agree on the point about making them work but I think they should be put to work building the fence to keep their relatives out of our cou.try

round up all illegals—sentence them to ten years of labor in Slave Factories where they earn 50 cents a day. then make cheap cloth to sell to China. using slaves we could make it cheaper than China. We would demand that Mexico send us slaves for the factories at lease a half million a year. No rights, no health care—Just work.

problem wit some voters is that they support a guy for a few years and then get their head stick up their ass when that person adopts more liberal policies .
