The alleged Boston Marathon bomber may have tried to kill himself rather than surrender after he was cornered by police - but failed in his suicide attempt, it has been revealed.
A new report says Dzhokhar Tsarnaev shoved his pistol in his own mouth and pulled the trigger as SWAT officers and federal agents closed in on the boat where he was hiding in Friday night. However, instead of killing him, the bullet simply passed through his neck.
Authorities have said they cannot question him because of a throat wound. He remains in 'very serious' condition at a Boston hospital.
Boston Mayor Tom Menino revealed on Sunday that federal agents may never be able to interview Tsarnaev. Menino didn't elaborate on his comment and it is unknown whether the gunshot also caused brain damage.
The new twist in the story of Tsarnaev's dramatic capture comes as the Boston police commissioner warns that he and his brother Tamerlan were plotting more bomb attacks on the city and they were caught just in time. Authorities insisted that the pair were working alone.
CBS News correspondent John Miller reports: 'They say it appears from the wound that he might have stuck a gun in his mouth, and fired and actually just went out the back of his neck without killing him.

Officials said late Friday after Tsarnaev was detained that they would use a public safety exemption to delay the suspect’s Miranda rights.
However, the exemption expires 48 hours after the arrest, so quick actions must be taken.

Their solution will probably be to send Mumbles Menino in to read him his Miranda rights. The Chechen won't understand a word he says and LE will be covered either way they want to go.

The fact that he is alive but can’t talk just plays into the overall scam. All we know is carefully scrubbed and manipulated to produce the desired result. Or, maybe unicorns DO exist.
And Benghazi was because of a YouTube video. This stinks to high heaven.

“The neck wound apparently did not initially silence Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, who was swearing profusely in the ambulance ride after his final confrontation with the FBI, according to a source familiar with the case. The Justice Department remained quiet Saturday on whether officials had been able to question Tsarnaev, or whether they would attempt to do so before he consults an attorney.”
I remember during the gun battle a lot of firing then like 2 shots then a time space of like 2 mins or so and one final shot!
I figured that was him taking his own life at that point and was surprised when I saw him on the ground cuffed and being worked on.
I had actually walked away and My lady said they got him!
I said got who he’s dead! She said no he’s not they got him on the ground.
