What really grinds my gears is the US ammo manufacturers selling to the DHS at the levels they are.
They are not patriots.
There is no such thing as price gouging.
I read where a lot of the elderly and po folks are having to decide between their “medicine” or ammunition.
Obama has been president for 4 years. Anyone who didn’t stock up by 2010 is a damn fool who deserves to get fleeced. We knew where he would go in his second term and we knew that he would lie, cheat, and steal (and that the GOP would nominate a “nice guy” who would lose very gracefully) to win that term!
On the other hand, I hope that prices come back down and these “investment buyers” lose their shirts.
What ticks me off are the morons who PAY these prices and encourage others to run up their prices.
As usual, Jeff is right. But anyone who buys ammo on Gunbroker or such places is contributing to this problem! Just stop.
Walter Williams explains “price gouging”—must read for any conservative: http://econfaculty.gmu.edu/wew/articles/04/gouging.html
I have a long memory. To this day, I don’t frequent several gun shops because of their dealings during the ammo shortage a couple of years ago. I’m not buying now because I stocked up last year when the price was right and it was readily available. Not using too much for practice and will add to the stock when the shortage eventually ends. Standardizing you weapons helps as I only have 4 types of ammo to stockpile.
Wait until the ammo is made illegal and has to be purchased on the black market. You haven’t seen anything yet.
The fact is though, we bought all the fence sitters time. Prices are coming down and availability is going up. Don't miss your opportunity again because the only thing we know for sure is that they will try again.
I stocked up on .22LR around 30 years ago. I think it is still good but I probably should take some of it out and make sure.
I can shoot all I want in my back yard.
I am thinking about having a yard sale including ammo.
What do people think would be a fair price for .22LR and .22 Mag?
"During a Constitutional crisis."
Quit whining. We are still in the good times. Can’t get as much as you like, so what. Do what you need to do, now. Right now.
A thing is worth exactly what another is willing to give for it.
If someone is willing to pay $2000 for an AR15, it must be worth a lot for them to not wait for prices to come back down. Ditto $70 for a brick of .22.
If someone is breaking in my door at oh-dark-thirty, I’d gladly pay $1000 for one round of .308 if I’m out of ammo!
Demand sets the price.
I’ve recently thought where is there a good deal on any firearm?
The timing is awful, but the reality is a recent widow might have a husband’s collection and not want it after his death. Or the reciprocal. Anyone seen this or have any good ideas on how to approach someone delicately, etc.
My wife works in a local Church office and knows of funerals as they are involved.
and...A thing is worth what someone will pay you right now.
I don’t know what Bushmaster is doing this time around but in round one with krinton, Bushmaster tried their best to screw people after freezing deliveries and then jacking up prices - on sold weapons. At the time, this was news. Now, not so much. Bill Ruger, too, seemed ready to go the way the gub’mint was pushing and held a fence sitting stance for some time.
Some folks have long memories.
