Just mimicking the Right Reverend Wright.
That’s a common misconception. It wasn’t done at Wellstone’s funeral. It WAS done at a public memorial service, but of course that doesn’t excuse the behavior. It was just liberals being their usual classless, boorish selves.
I will say this: I was no fan of Jesse Ventura as our governor, but he did one thing right during his term. During that ridiculous pep rally that night, he got up and walked off the stage.
More accurately,
“Let me be clear blah blah blah blah blah blah.
“Make no mistake blah blah < insert cliche >
“Corpse man blah blah blah blah,
“Let us blah blah blah blah blah blah
“Reach across the aisle blah blah blah blah blah blah “
Once again I call upon blah blah blah blah blah blah
These are not Democratic or Republican values. Theyre American values blah blah blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah blah blah Thank you, and God Bless America
Perhaps it’s because of Sequestration, but at this democrat rally, Obama failed to hand out or sell T-shirts.
Insightful post.
The ribbons, bunnies and balloons are trite, superficial offerings.
Private, silent prayer in somber reflection would be far more appropriate - but this is the age of exhibitionism and excess - regardless of the occasion.
And the leading from behind continues.
Sen. Wellstone was a Liberal Democrat, but by all accounts, a decent human being who deserved far more dignity and decorum at his memorial.
Believe it or not, I knew Paul Wellstone. I agreed with him on exactly nothing in a political sense but you are right to state that he was a good man (except in his first election campaign against Rudy Boschwitz).
He’d never get my vote but that didn’t stop him from being nice on a personal basis. You’re quite right — he and his wife, who was also memorialized that night, deserved some dignified treatment.
Wellstone was a senator and Vice President Cheney was President of the Senate, but he was warned it was not safe for him to attend the rally for Wellstone.
Paul Wellstone (D) from Minnesota.
Did he give out T-shirts like he did at the Giffords trage-rally?
Well said, daddy.
