Pressure cookers possibly activated remotely by a cellphone are believed to have been used to make the crude bombs that sent deadly shrapnel hurling into a crowd of onlookers and competitors at Mondays Boston Marathon, experts told Fox News.
Doctors treating some of the 176 injured victims believe the explosives were packed with deadly shrapnel, including pellets, nails and sharp metallic objects with some patients having 40 or more such fragments embedded in their bodies.
Many of them have severe wounds mostly in the lower part of their body wounds related to the blast effect of the bomb, as well as small metallic fragments that entered their bodies pellets, shrapnel, nails that these bombs had, George Velnahos, chief of trauma surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, said Tuesday.

Bush's Fault!
In a way it IS Bush’s fault.
Why are there 80,000 Saudi “students” in this country when Saudis were the cause for 9/11/2001?
That’s it! You have to register your pressure cooker! And forget about the 4 quart capacity, you can only own a 2 quart capacity pressure cooker. You are not allowed to conceal-carry a pressure cooker. If you want to own a pressure cooker you have to take a 40 hour cooking class, not take any anti-depressants, and for God’s sake, you CAN’T be a veteran. Fixed it. Next?
It's hard to believe that this kind of ignorance exists, but here is the proof!
It even had its own stopwatch.
Someone told me long ago...
It is pretty easy to make a bomb, the tricky part is not being there when it goes off.
Very valid point. I’m actually kind of sick of ALL of the foreign students with visas running over here at taxpayer’s expense.
How could any backpack be allowed into this area, given the high profile nature of the event? It seems the 9/11 precautionary security was napping.
I was in high school through the late 50s, and it's obvious that stuff I studied then must be taboo now, or, at least, none of today's "journalists" were ever exposed to it.
I don’t see how it would be possible to use a cell phone to trigger such a device. If it were placed inside, the walls of the pressure cooker would act as a Faraday cage and block radio signals. If it were placed ouside, there would have to be wires running from the cell phone to the bomb inside the pressure cooker. The wires would compromise the seal and decrease the effectiveness of the pressure cooker in building up pressure immediately after detonation.
Are you shit*ting me? Bush has been out of Office for over 5 years. How long does this Administration allow them to stay here. Before you start, I worked at a University until 4 years ago and I saw some great young Students sent home. This isn’t on Bush.
Then you have not seen the many immigrants that join the welfare lines the moment they arrive.
More foreign worker visas..
More illegal aliens coming from Mexico..
A 'soft war' to undermine American CITIZENS, led by 0bama.
I expect a run on them. I think prices are already going up. I have the strange urge to stock up myself!

It’s been reported they believe these bombs were on timers, not remotely detonated.
Pressure cooker bombs were often used by ETA in Spain and also, iirc, by the IRA. It’s a technique lthst was taught in the PLO camps.
Sorry Mr. Mortal, but GW had quite a bit to do with the large number of SAUDI students in our universities. He was pretty chummy with King Abdallah.
I played around with making powder from scratch as a lad back in the 60’s.
My interests were not malevolent, just scientific curiosity.
I was just trying to make my own homemade fireworks.
Never used anything any more sophisticated than a fuse to set them off.
I still carry burn scars on my hand from those days!

Pressure cookers and cellphones are two more items to be banned because they kill people. /s
What you say is true but they could easily utilize an insulated feed-through in the pressure cooker to maintain the integrity of the vessel. It would have to be soldered or welded in.
