What happened?

Cash money, no doubt. Favored “think tanks” will get “consulting” gigs from the FDA for studying gun issues or some other flim flam payola.

The purpose of "universal background checks" is to register all gun owners and their firearms so they know where to go and what to collect when the time comes.

I may be ignorant of something here but this “citizens” outfit sounds like a Communist or Sorosian front group ...
1. its name is SO very Commie/Sorosian, and
2. it appears at JUST the right time to “sell out” its ostensible Pro-Constitutional cause

“coincidences” are sometimes not accidental....

I think I’ll hesitate to endorse this legislation until everybody gets to see the whole thing.

I think I read that Feinstein was attaching her assault weapon legislation to it.

Any background check is just as stupid, pointless, and idiotic as anything Obama can think up on his own. After all, the guy who ambushed firemen in Christmas morning in NY state wouldn’t have passed a background check. The only thing that would have stopped him is making sure he never walked free again after beating his own grandmother to death with a hammer.

If someone wants to use a gun to do harm, no background check in the world is going to stop them. In less than 2 hours I could go to the hood, offer a couple hundred for a throw away weapon and have it with no questions asked.

Any man too dangerous to own a gun is a man too dangerous to walk the streets.

SENATOR TOM COBURN JOINS CCRKBA’S NATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL
Thursday, March 7th, 2013

BELLEVUE, WA – U.S. Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) has agreed to join the National Advisory Council of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb announced today.

Hmmmm... I wonder why they support Coburn’s bill today. I haven’t got a clue. Anyone?

why not the “International Socialist People’s Brigade For Love and Peace Through Universal Disarmament”

??

now THAT would be a great name for an outfit that suddenly appears just at the very right moment to advocate for taking away the American citizens’ Second Am. Rights

“Any background check is just stupid, pointless and idiotic”

That is the crux of the matter. The rest of your post is spot on as well. Criminals won’t be affected by this.

I really think there should be legislation to outlaw murder./s

*****It provides that you can transfer to family members (including inlaws) without background checks. It allows for temporary transfers for hunting, target shooting, or inspection.*****

You can do those now, so how is this an improvement?

More than compromising-if they are what I suspect they are, they are all for this gun control and more. “Right To Keep And Bear Arms” are very ambiguous words in the mouths of leftists, and we know what they do with language, such as the words “gay” and “queer” and “choice” and “illegal”.

Yo-Yo,

I'm not trying to pick a fight.

But this is the way the Hard Left has fought since Teddy Roosevelt became president in 1901.

They take a little bit away from Conservatives, and they never give it back.

Then they take a little more next year, and never give that back.

As to the “safeguards” or “favorable compromises” that Gottlieb dreams he has obtained, they will go unenforced, or the Hard Left federal judiciary will throw out tiny pieces of them, or a Hard Left prosecutor in Chicago will decide to interpret the law a new way and file criminal charges against some completely innocent Conservative.

This is the same insanity that Rubio is trying with the “Gang of Eight” immigration bill.

Bottom Line.....

The Left hates us.

The Left works relentlessly to destroy Conservatives.

Compromising with the Left guarantees only one long term outcome.....

Our political annihilation.

I don’t understand why.

“CCRKBA is proud to welcome Sen. Coburn to our advisory council,” Gottlieb concluded. “With anti-gun rhetoric spreading like an epidemic, Tom Coburn’s experience and skill on Capitol Hill is strong medicine.”

Best I can tell Gotleib claims to have had a ringer in on writing the Manchin-Tomey thing. Today on GunTalk he said (from my memory) that the bill walks back several things like the mental helath issue, blocking medical records access by LEO’s(unless court approval), makes it a felony to misuse gun records or medical info, provides a path to get guns back and allows interstate travel to buy a gun.

The most interesting thing he said was that there is no UBC’s for private party sales. It does require that transactions at gun shows all go through a FFL.

If that is all true it sounds like a good bill considering what we were expecting.

I’m guessing it’s popular with people who think the NRA is too extreme.

The NRA is far too moderate in my opinion much like the GOP-e. The Gun Owners of America is the more courageous organization standing up for the Constitution without giving an inch.

So, now that this is almost over, when do they restrict, change and completely control the First Amendment, the the 4th, 5th, 6th and, and... oh hell, just rip the entire damn thing up.

Without the Rule of Law, things sure seem to move along much faster.

The Second Amendment already allows for all of that and more. The more our rights are defined and “granted” by the state, the less we have any rights.
