Judges threaten Gov. Jerry Brown with contempt of court
Los Angeles Times ^ | Thursday, April 11, 2013 | Chris Megerian

A panel of federal judges Thursday threatened to hold Gov. Jerry Brown and other state officials in contempt of court if they do not quickly produce a plan to remove thousands of convicts from California's packed prisons.

In a blistering 71-page ruling, the jurists rejected Brown's bid to end restrictions they imposed on crowding in the lockups. The state cannot maintain inmate numbers that violate orders intended to eliminate dangerous conditions behind bars, they said.

Brown and other officials "will not be allowed to continue to violate the requirements of the Constitution of the United States," the judges wrote...

The judges gave the state 21 days to submit a plan for meeting the population target by the end of the year. Administration officials said they would appeal the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court...

In January, Brown declared the prison crisis over and launched a legal and public relations crusade to end court oversight of inmate healthcare, which has been in place since 2006, calling it unnecessarily costly and otherwise burdensome.

But his efforts have been rebuffed. In a related case last week, one of the three judges said mental healthcare in prisons had not improved enough to end oversight in that area.

On Thursday, all three jurists stood behind the population caps they previously ordered -- and the U.S. Supreme Court upheld -- as a remedy for what they have called substandard conditions due to overcrowding, resulting in unconstitutionally poor inmate care.

Extra bedrooms in the judges’ homes should be the first place to house them.

These tyrant judges need to be held criminally liable for these released convicts actions.

These commie judges are now so conveniently fond of the Constitution. They want to release their criminal pets into the streets just as Rose Bird and her gang did during the first Brown reign of terror in the seventies.

Need a plan? Firing squads. Works every time and it should make these “judges” happy. Now these “judges” need to force Moom Beam to throw the illegal aliens out of a “packed” California and back into Mexico.

Wait a minute. It’s the judges that send them to prison so why isn’t it the judges problem?

Let liberalism self destruct in CA, NY and IL. Money shortfalls will crush these giant liberal bastions. CA is the first to implode. They think between banking and high tech they can sustain a liberal utopia. They are wrong. Generous entitlements, illegal immigrants, large state pensions cannot be sustained by high taxes. IL is next to fall. NY is a bit different. Gov Cuomo is trying to legalize fracking but he hasn’t figure out how to slip it by the environmentalists in his party yet. His state is being held up by NYC/Wall Street. The rest of the state is a industrial waste land being sustained locally by state/fed funded university towns.

The unions won’t let them ship them out to private prisons or other states, so they just let them loose to commit more crimes.

Moonbeam and his State jackboot revenue officers better get busy completely disarming the law abiding California producers before he opens the prison gates a third time, or some of these judge’s pets may get hurt and provide even more business for California ambulance chasers.

Industry in upstate has been decimated for a few decades. What does Syracuse and Utica do that is economically useful? Rochester was dynamic when it had Eastman Kodak. You had GE and Corning upstate, You had IBM north of NYC making things. There is lots of agriculture in NY State. But you are right that state/fed money has made upstate university towsn into economic oasis's. Upstate gets skiing and other tourist dollars from NYC. They get taxes on second homes from NYC people

It’s all part of THE BIG SHOW! Jerry has run out of money. This way, the unelected Democrats provide cover for the elected Democrats.

My plan would be to hire Sheriff Arpaio to administer the California Prison population.
Maybe he could set up tents out in the desert to relieve the overcrowding.

You don't understand, California won't be fixed, it's not in the plan, and before long (probably already) it can't be fixed.

Collapse and socialist tyranny are the only option.
