Strike out everything else in the bill and leave this.
It prohibits the federal government from establishing a national firearms registry, and makes any person who misuses or illegally retains firearms records subject to up to 15 years in prison.

Hogwash. If this were real compromise, we’d be seeing a benefit to gun owners. How about they get more background checks in exchange to nationwide concealed carry license reciprocity. That would be real compromise.

I thought there was an opportunity to try to find some common ground with some of my colleagues, There is no common ground with leftists and tyrants.
said Toomey on the conference call afterward. Background checks are not a perfect solution
but they do help.
Background checks certainly do help leftists build a registry of guns and gun owners. Background checks and registries certainly have already helped leftist tyrants in New York, California, and other places to steal guns from gun owners.

More of same: make it harder for the law-abiding to arm themselves while doing NOTHING to stop criminal behavior and doing NOTHING to eliminate dealy “gun free” zones.

His compromise doesn’t do anything to his conservative credibility? it sure does in my book. I get tired of constantly hearing that we conservatives did it because it was better than what else was out there, and we needed to find common ground. You never hear that from the dens

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) told reporters on a conference call moments ago that his compromise bill with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on gun background checks doesnt change in any way his conservative record or views.
