Annette Funicello lost her long battle with MS today. She had been suffering for a very long time. Especially for those of us old enough to remember her on the Mickey Mouse Club this is a sad day.

Like every other guy my age, I had a hopeless crush on her!

That’s so weird. I just had a dream 2 days ago that she stole my car to joyride to Disneyland.
No more late night hamburgers for me.

I remember when she had her tonsils removed. She ate something and her throat started bleeding. She was rushed to the hospital while we Mouseketeer fans waited to find out if she was okay.

I grew up on the Mickey Mouse Club in the late ‘50s, early ‘60s. Pieces of my childhood are dropping off the grid. Sally Starr died a couple of years ago, and that was a kick in the stomach, too.

Annette originally was from here, Utica, NY. My Dad was a meat cutter at Utica’s Grand Union and worked with her aunt. I missed her by 5 minutes when she was home for a visit and visited her aunt at work.

I remember reading that Annette had a teen crush on Guy Williams, Walt Disney’s “Zorro”, so for her birthday Disney gave her a part on several episodes of “Zorro”. I saw those episodes, and she did great.

Now there was a young woman who came out of the Disney lineup back when the Mouseketeers were decent young people.
When I just mentioned to my husband that she had passed away, he said, “I had a crush on her. Everybody did.”
As a kid of about 10, I thought she was just beautiful, and I even wrote her a fan letter, for which I received an autographed photo.
Seemed like a nice woman. I don’t follow celebrities, but I don’t recall hearing any scandals in the news that were associated with her.

Not a fan, but I understand. Intersting phenomenon, but this is not a ploace to analyze it.

I truly feel as if a member of my family has passed. She was the first crush of my life. I was seven and Annette was 12 when she burst onto the scene in "The Mickey Mouse Club" in 1955. She won my heart even while I too young to even know why--
Rest in Peace, My Dear...
