(CNSNews.com) - Hours after the BBC reported the death of conservative British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on Monday, President Barack Obama still had not issued a statement on her passing.
But last week, within half an hour of film critic Roger Ebert's death, the White House tweeted a statement from the president.
As of 10:00 a.m. EDT on Monday, there was still silence from the White House on Thatcher's death, which the BBC tweeted at 4:49 a.m.

Don’t know about that. Seem to see more and more Obama defenders here.
Can’t people read just about anything they want, in between the lines?
That’s like saying silence speaks volumes...it really doesn’t, it only says what one wants to hear.
You noticed that, too?
Maybe it’s because some of the things that are said, are just getting more ridiculous sounding.

True, but this isn’t one of them. His delay is well thought out and is meant as an insult.
Of course it is
Alexander Mooney/CNN ✔ @AWMooneyCNN Surprised the White House hasn't put out a Thatcher statement yet
I guess CNN is just being 'ridiculous', as well...
If you can’t read between the lines on Obama, then you ain’t payin attention.
he has a deep-seated hatred of the British because they tried to put a stop to the slave trade in their colonies.
Just as Democrats hate America because we freed their slaves, some Africans will always hate the British for that.
right, I don’t read between the lines with anyone because what I read, may not be correct.
Plus we lowered our flags to half staff for Mariah Carey, but didn’t mention Chris Kyle. In all honesty, I don’t think the flags were lowered on Presidential order, but it is a reflection of our media....
Margaret never donated any money to Obama’s campaign or campaign’s. See that is all that matters. Also Thatcher was a counterpart to Reagan and we all know how much Obama loves channeling his inner Reagan. Sorry for the sarcasm, really I am, honestly I am telling the truth just like Obama.
What a surprise... /sarc
Happiness to me would be to be able to sit with those two with a two-finger scotch and listen to the stories they would tell...
Personally I am not offended byb Obama and his obvious snub...I would rather he NOT say anything, the only people who would marginally appreciate the Administrations recognition of her passing would be people in our part of the political pendulum swing...
Nobody on the left would care to give it any time to reflect...
WE are the ones that count, and appreciate what she did for her country, and as a staunch ally of ours...That’s allthat matters to me...
“Hollywood (even to include Ebert) is part of the Communist machine. They are comrades to Obama.”
It is not surprising to me, just look at how many of them view America as through the camera lense. I’m sure that is why the Colorado Dem lady thinks that magazines/clips are not refillable. She sees them get discarded in all of the movies.
We had another tell us that the sequester would make us all live like in “Les Miserable.” Dear Leader felt like a set of American movies in DVD form was an “honorable gift.” Their voters get their news from “comedians.” They all believe anything, so long as it was in a movie.
Naturally, Roger Ebert is morned at a very high level.
“Obama keeps his hatred of colonialist GB alive through the dreams of his father, communist Obama Sr.”
I don’t mean to be a nitpicker, however it is not dreams of, it is dreams FROM. That makes a huge difference. That said, my nitpicking only strengthens your point.
Obummer ordered the flags to half-staff for Whitney Houston but not for the ambassador to Libya.
You were expecting anything better from him?
Some great heroes have passed in the past few months with barely a nod from the Lyin’ King.
Robert Bork
General Schwartzkoph
Dr. Koop
Margaret Thatcher
Yet, he is quick to note the passing of rap singers, street thugs, and movie critics.
He is such a shallow, narcissistic, tool.
That takes a long time to do.
I imagine even his Goebbelmeister aide declined to do so.

Colin Powell-”I think she was a great leader, someone who had a vision, a purpose and went after that purpose and brought everyone along with her for a while,” former Secretary of State Colin Powell said on CBS’ “This Morning.” “But the British people have lost great inspiration. They have lost somebody who should be an example to anybody in political life today.”
“She exuded influence and power,” he continued. “The hair style, the dress, her manner, the way in which she carried that handbag. When she walked into a room, you knew somebody had arrived and you’d better be careful. At the same time she had an extremely warm side to her.”
obama-President Barack Obama said “the world has lost one of the great champions of freedom and liberty, and America has lost a true friend.”
“She stands as an example to our daughters that there is no glass ceiling that can’t be shattered,” he continued. “As prime minister, she helped restore the confidence and pride that has always been the hallmark of Britain at its best. And as an unapologetic supporter of our transatlantic alliance, she knew that with strength and resolve we could win the Cold War and extend freedom’s promise.”
