“Rick had fallen away from the strict interpretation of the Word (or so I hear).”
That would require him to have once had a strict interpretation, something not in evidence.
when one commits suicide it is self evident that a deep dark hopeless state of mind has over taken the person.....specifics are none meaningful
I think this song is appropriate
Blaine Larsen “How do you get that lonely”

“I think sometimes people who suffer from severe depression often think they are a burden to the people around them and that everyone would be better off if they were not in the picture anyone. That person thinks they are doing everyone a favor by taking their life, when in reality the opposite is true - it causes great pain.”
I have had discussions with my elderly mother, who lists the members of my father’s family that have probably had depression.
IOW there is probably a genetic component. Also addictions and alcoholism often go with depression, perhaps attempts to self medicate.
My sister is completely drug-alcohol free, however.
Anybody who spouts of satan claims for those medically diagnosed with depression are extreme kooks, in my view.
“You are, unfortunately, utterly, utterly clueless.”
Classless, too. Probably the type that wouldn’t be bothered to read the pastor’s book either, because he knows it already.
Yeah....you look out and see so little charity in the world, not just charitable giving but charity in general. So much negativity and judgmentalism.
Thank you for compiling that list so I wouldn’t have to wade through dozens of posts by the Pharisees and kooks among us.
Why the heck can’t people just be nice to others who are hurting?
“Oh look, that guy is in pain. Let’s point fingers while kicking him!”
Earlier you said:
“My sister has suffered from depression all her adult life. She does not drink, use drugs ever, at all.
When they get the prescription right, she is okay most of the time. But from time to time, the condition goes into a phase which must just be endured, waited out.”
I guess you mean your sister is street drug free, since you mention a prescription. Some of the drugs they use for depression will make you more depressed and even suicidal. If she's been taking them for a long time, she won't be able to just not take them, but she may heed a different regiment of drugs or fewer drugs and more counseling.
His son had serious mental issues, it’s been reported in other articles...treated by dr’ and clinics and the like...
I have a friend who son died a couple years ago...serious mental issues from about 10 onward. All kinds of Dr.s were sought......not uncommon to do when there are no results favorable.....ended up killling another like himself..and the police killing him in a standoff. He was on the phone with his mother when they took the shot....all he wanted was relief from “his torment”....
Both parents Christian....
My understanding was he had severe mental issues.
I doubt we would fully understand the thoughts of a seriously depressed person.
Prayers up for the family.
......”when one commits suicide it is self evident that a deep dark hopeless state of mind has over taken the person.....specifics are none meaningful”......
Yes..I agree....
However, mental disorders can drive people to that state of mind....though they may hope otherwise for relief.
Prayers for this hurting family...
agreed....it’s just that I am not interested in intruding on the pain of a family that has lost a loved one to suicide
Hey! I never said it was selfish. I think all I said was “are you serious?” to that guy that said he jumped off a 20 floor building right after smashing his car at 120 mph”
