If it does happen, at least it will finally end the debate over how much damage would actually occur. Opinions run the entire spectrum from nothing, to everything being destroyed.

Exactly. No foreign enemy has to nuke the hell outta us they just burst an EMP and we would destroy ourselves from within with the chaos that would cause.
