The U.S. would oust the communist regime in North Korea if it uses its nuclear weapons or launches an all-out invasion on South Korea and the 28,500 American troops stationed there, national security sources say.
The Obama administration has not articulated such a far-reaching retaliation, even as North Korean leader Kim Jong-un threatens to attack both the South Korean and the U.S. mainland.
But national security sources say it is a common assumption within the Pentagon and U.S. Pacific Command that a full-force attack by Pyongyang would put in place a contingency plan of massive retaliation against the North aimed at bringing down the Stalinist regime. President Obama then would be faced with making the war decision.

And if NK is; their compasses will spin.
I know how to save one MILLION a year...
Well I would hope that is the thinking in the pentagon. You don’t let foreign country’s brutally attack Americans on American soil without staging a massive retaliation.
Congress should get together and issue an deceleration of war against North Korea then order the president to remove Pyongyang & its leader Kim Jong-il from the face of the earth.
I hope the Obama administration is at least finally starting to figure out that they can’t trust North Korea to keep any agreement.
Exactly. No foreign enemy has to nuke the hell outta us they just burst an EMP and we would destroy ourselves from within with the chaos that would cause.
Oh, I agree with you and Jim. I just don't think our President or Obama should take anything off the table or show his cards.
This makes no sense. If the baloon goes up with NK, then the regime should/would be either droned or bunker busted to the point that a new regime would be intuitively obvious and required.
O: Bring me my historian
H: Can I help you, Sire?
O: How did the Nation get out of the Great Depression?
H: World War II
O: Sounds good to me!
Never mint Korea. They Are mere flies buzzing around Kim Jong dung. Time for regime change HERE.
The time would be ripe, since the PRC has apparently cut them loose, thereby making remote the threat of a repeat of the last engagement with NK. But it won’t happen, imho. This is scripted posturing on both sides.
Hmmm. Everybody take a step back and look at where we are: Poor country threatening nukes unless rich country gives it food.
I wonder how we got here.
Put down that book about how people aren’t having enough children and take a little peek at the world.
I thought of the same thing, but witness the experience of West Germany, and the hit that they took from absorbing East Germany.
Maybe take out the Kim Dynasty, Chinese administration while the North decompresses- with ROK aid and strict border controls.
This is when we learn about the previously unknown North Korean Muslim Brotherhood faction.
I agree... Obama would HAVE to go.
Regime change? I thought we were not to interfere with other nations.
Also, where is the Assclown’s column, like the one he wrote after 9/11, asking America to look at WHY we are hated by those who attack us? Assclown was part of the “Blame America first” crowd after 9/11...so by extension, you KNOW he will be among that same crowd if the NORKS attack.
U.S. would seek regime change in North Korea if attack occurs
Here? or there?
Or both?
Tong-il! (Reunification)
Why doesn't the Nobel Peace Prize Kenyan Marxist Homosexual make a statement to that effect?
Maybe the great one works behind the scenes community organizing some homosexual Koreans for a Korean Spring?
Little late to seek regime change after the event happens. Besides who among us thinks the Loser in Chief has the fortitude to do anything like that?
We should be moving heavy forces to the region, including carrier battle groups, F-22’s to Japan, B-2/B-1/B-52’s to Guam and an additional 100,000 troops (some to Korea, others to Japan). We also should tell Russia and China that any interference on North Korea’s behalf would be cause to initiate a nuclear strike on their countries.
Also, we should be increasing our presence near Iran to deter them from getting too froggy.
(Didn't think so....)
