Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has written the cover story for the April edition of Newsmax magazine, offering an optimistic view of Americas future and straight talk about its problems with the resounding message: Growth is the answer to our nagging economic woes.
And the leading Republican sat down with Newsmax for a wide-ranging interview elaborating on a number of topics he discusses in his magazine feature, arguing that America can be great again if we open up the doors to economic opportunity.
Bush, who served two terms as Floridas governor, has earned a nationwide reputation for reform proposals in the fields of education and immigration. He is founder and chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, author of the new book The Immigration Wars: Forging an American Solution co-written with constitutional law expert Clint Bolick and is considered a strong contender for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.

I’m sure he has some great consultants like Karl Rove.
“This from a guy who wants to add 35 million illegals to the welfare rolls later this year through amnesty. With Republicans like this, who needs Democrats?”
Yeah, tell him to pack up his Mexican wife and move south. He’d make a good President of Mexico. (Oh I forgot, they won’t allow him because he’s not “native born”).
Doesn’t anyone on FR remember Bush trying to get personal medical accounts and retirement accounts.
Bush tried to reform entitlements but couldn’t get either Republicans or Democrats to go along. At the time, no one wanted to hear about entitlement reform.
To call Bush’s FICA investment scheme hare-brained would be to give it too much credit for having been thought through at all. In no way would it have resulted in the government’s liability being reduced, and would simply been one more massive bail out in 2008-2009.
We solve the entitlement problem in a few steps.
First, Medicare and indigent senior Medicaid inflation must be zeroed out on a per-capita basis and eventually become negative on a per-capita basis such that total outlays can stabilize. The senior citizen health care system must be made MUCH, MUCH cheaper.
Second, disability must go through a 1996-style reform. Despite what (might have been) the best of intentions, SSI and SSDI have become a welfare program with all of the ills and negative incentives of the worst of welfare systems.
Third, social security retirement income should have a reform of the cost-of-living calculator.
I’m with you. I’m prepared. I learned a long time ago that Social Security is not going to be there when I would need it. Keep calm and carry on.

Hey Jeb, you RINO POS!
How 'bout if you & the other RINOs and the RAT socialist bastard demoRATs just quit spending by about $2 Trillion .... THIS YEAR. Let's see how 50% less gubmint spending & 50% less gubmint regulations will spur the economy.
I second that. Jeb has WH ambitions just as profound, and just as destructive, as Hillary. But we need to be very firm with Jeb: NO! Not ever! We will NOT vote for you, no how! Just stop it right now! You may have every billionaire and banker in the country supporting you, who will buy you more ad time than anyone ever before, but it is not enough.
If you run, it will guarantee Hillary in the White House, and conservatives will curse you and your family forever. We are already cursing two of your kin. But our rage will be reserved for you, Jeb.
Because of your families’ arrogance, our country is teetering on the brink of ruin. Democrats control the White House and senate. Your family has brought this mess down on our heads, and we do not forgive any of you for it.
Yes, your father and your brother thought they were so smart, so internationalist, so elite. Someday the lot of you need to be homeless and shunned.
I am an instructor in Medical Laboratory Technology and Biology at our local community college and I know NOTHING about Economics. Your ideas sound great, but my point was that he did suggest doing something about the problem. The thing that appealed to me about his idea is that there are many people who think that there is an account in DC with their name on it that will be there no matter what which would be laughable if it wasn’t such a crime. A private investment account would be something that did have a person’s name on it which could be passed on to surviving family members. Despite what happened in 2008, the stock market over time has continued to go up, and, as long as risky investments are avoided, one could expect to come out ahead - unlike my children who are in their 30’s. They are forced to pay FICA taxes, but I firmly believe they will never see a penny of benefits.
Bump!
Regarding your #17....
I agree with all you stated!! Bush 43 is unfairly bashed by many here on FR. I opposed his attempt at amnesty for illegals in 2006-07, but the majority of his actions supported the betterment of Americans and the defense of this country.
Its amazing how the business as usual politicians will say what we want to hear to get our votes.
But don’t hold you breath for any real action to quickly cut spending and balance the nation’s budget.
Medicare Part D, the 2008 business bailout and the no-win war in Afghanistan are all part of the Bush 43 legacy.
After 9/11 the Taliban that came out of Pakistan needed to be chased into Pakistan and taken out along with the Al-Quaeda in their entirety, but this war “drones” on so to speak.
Can’t cover up the truth about Bush’s liberalism, his big spending or his big government tendencies.
To say that one would prefer Bush in office versus Obama is merely to choose between the lesser of two evils (which is the former, to be clear). Never mind to compare apples to oranges since neither man ran against the other. Neither is an “interloper”, I would go so far as to say, since ultimately it is God that chooses our leaders (Romans 13:1).
Please cite “unfair” bashing. That would constitute false accusations on the basher’s part. Getting “harsh” and “unfair” mixed up is in itself unfair.

Good intentions don’t cut it, otherwise the libs would always be winners.
What I do know is his prescription health benefit he passed was a new entitlement that gave us nothing but a quicker way to go broke.
In context, it’s not apples and oranges, especially viewing the leftward shift from the beginning of the twentieth century onward. Obama is certainly the culmination, and the other side of the “red line” to use a cliché. Maybe tangerines (Bush) with Seville oranges (Obama)?
The Buck Stops Here.
The DemocRATs will supply him with as many as he needs.
