A central Texas prosecutor and his wife were found killed in their house two months after one of his assistants was gunned down near their office, authorities said.
Investigators found the bodies of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, on Saturday, Kaufman County sheriffs Lt. Justin Lewis said. Police, FBI agents, Texas Rangers and deputies were part of the investigation.
Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse was shot to death in a parking lot a block from his office on Jan. 31. No arrests have been made in his death.
Lewis declined to say how the couple died or whether authorities believe their deaths are linked to Hasses. He wouldnt provide further details. Kaufman County is 33 miles southeast of Dallas.
Kaufman Police Chief Chris Aulbaugh told The Dallas Morning News that the McLellands had been shot in their home and although investigators didnt know if their deaths were related to Hasses killing, they couldnt discount it.
It is a shock, Aulbaugh told the newspaper. It was a shock with Mark Hasse, and now you can just imagine the double shock and until we know what happened, I really cant confirm that its related but you always have to assume until its proven otherwise.

So they say. Just like Dorner in the wooded cabin. one sided sory.
We heard that several “.223 casings” were recovered at the scene but there is very little in the way of factual information out there.

From one report for what it’s worth.

Late Saturday night, sources said a .223-caliber assault rifle, similar to an AR-15, was used in the murders, with approximately 14 rounds being fired.

In the real world coincidences abound.
I am from Texas. I live in Dallas County. I drive through Kaufman County often to get to my parents house in East Texas. Kaufman is such a lovely small town county. I think you are right. It is either Mexican Cartel’s or White Supremisist group. They better get to the bottom of this and put constant protection around the rest of their DA’s in Kaufman.

Interesting time line of events in Kaufman Cty
Kaufman County slayings timeline
DECEMBER 2012: The Texas Department of Public Safety issues a statewide bulletin warning that authorities had received credible information that the Aryan Brotherhood was actively planning retaliation against law enforcement officials who helped secure indictments in Houston against dozens of members, including the gangs leadership.
JAN. 31: Kaufman County prosecutor Mark Hasse is shot and killed while getting out of his car near the county courthouse. Authorities acknowledge they are investigating the possibility of a link between the slaying and the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang. However, they quickly add that to their knowledge, Hasse was not currently handling any cases involving Aryan Brotherhood members. They say that labeling the organization the focus of their probe would be premature.
FEB. 9: At a memorial service for Hasse, Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland vows that the prosecutors killers will be brought to justice.
MARCH 22: Authorities say the FBI is looking into whether Hasses slaying could have any connections to the March 19 slaying of Colorado prisons chief Tom Clements. A federal official said the suspect in Clements slaying, Evan Spencer Ebel, was a member of the white supremacist 211 prison gang.
SATURDAY: McLelland and his wife, Cynthia Woodward McLelland, are found fatally shot at their home.
True....however; most of them tend not to be just coincidence.
I can only speak from my true life experiences, in which I have no links to provide to you.
Example....let’s just say someone who works with me in our small business was executed. I would be sad and think some random psycho killing.
A while later, another co-worker and spouse were executed.
NO coincidence.
Time to act!
Lets forget about the rest of the population who's had to deal with this non-stop for 3+decades now...As hundreds of thousands of Americans have been shot, ran over, raped, knifed, embezzled, robbed, burglarized not to mention the fraud and epic economic damage....
Last month Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse was gunned down outside the local courthouse by two men in tactical gear who remain at large, and authorities fear the murders may be connected to a retaliatory plot by Mexican cartels.
The drug cartels freelance their retail distribution and enforcement work to local street and prison gangs across the United States, and have recently been targeting both Mexican and U.S. law enforcement officials for assassination.
In the past the Kaufman District Attorney’s Office assisted in a federal investigation targeting the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas which allegedly is a methamphetamine distributor for the Gulf cartel as reported by Dave Gibson for the Examiner.
That's too bad.
Maybe the government should have secured our borders in the late 1970s when this epic invasion was really ramping up. Every year we're paying them hundred of billions for security were not getting.
Of course the demand for that dirt cheap illegal labor is quite attractive...
Profits regardless of consequences.
After all these years, some are just now finding out about those consequences.
Assistant DA Hasse was assassinated on 1/31/13 in broad daylight in downtown Kaufman on the steps of the courthouse. Now his boss has been killed in his home. We may reasonably infer that a, the killers are fearless and b, they are big on making examples and sending messages.
And though the Sheriff's Dept. is tight-lipped about last night's killings some information is out there. Some is anecdotal, a Sheriff's I know told me that they were leaning towards the AB killing Hasse in revenge for his actions towards them.
Some you can glean from the internet:
It is said that these are Arian nations (KKK) groups. Perhaps associated with those prison break and killings in Colorado.
That is certainly possible. It could be a domestic also. I just happen to think it was gang revenge killing.
All very true.
In this instance, or instances, I’m thinking that the Aryan Brotherhood may also be acting as assassins for their allied cartels south of the border. They’re already believed to be one of the primary meth distributors for the cartels, so why not expand their business a bit?
It makes perfect sense....rather than the cartel sending a hit team to “El Norte”, just have your allies, who already have boots on the ground, as it were, do it for you. Classic organized crime cooperation.
Many might think it odd that a group like the AB would cooperate with Mexican drug runners, but for all their talk of “white power”, there’s one color they love more than anything else.
The color of money.
This is a little too close to home for me as well. We have property and a home about 9 miles north of Terrell and pay school taxes to Kaufman county. Stuff like this isn’t supposed to happen in the country and it’s darn scary.
Johnny Sutton, in the El Paso office of Justice has prescuted several Border Patrol agents.
Are there any county DA's left to protect?
I’m out between College Mound and Frog. To say that people are on edge is a huge understatement. I would not go anywhere that I wasn’t known and welcome if you get my drift.
Yup, you nailed it...
Or the AB, who ironically work with the Mexican cartels to distribute drugs...
