Defense Department Says Giving Purple Heart To Fort Hood Survivors Would Hurt Hasan trial

Legislation that would award the injured from the 2009 Fort Hood shooting the Purple Heart would adversely affect the trial of Maj. Nidal Hasan by labeling the attack terrorism, according to a Defense Department document obtained by Fox News.

The document comes following calls from survivors and their families for the military honor, because they say Fort Hood was turned into a battlefield when Hasan opened fire during the November 2009 attack. Fox News is told that the DOD

What Hasan did was clearly a terrorist attack on our soldiers at Ft. Hood. To label it as 'workplace violence' is a slap in the face of those who died and those who were wounded. Plus it is a slap in the face to tens of millions of Americans who do not believe in political correctness.

If Nidal Hasan wasn't carrying out a terrorist act then his behavior becomes hard to explain. In a trial his radical ideology, his collaboration with known terrorists, his anti-Americanism, will be introduced by one side or the other. Hasan may have been a neurotic, socially dysfunctional loser but so are a lot of other terrorists. The Army simply wants to cover its butt for not sh*t-canning this guy years ago.

It was absolutely terrorism, but Im not sure they should be awarded the Purple Heart. I would compare their case for the medal against others wounded or killed in any other terror attack. Honestly, I have not done the footwork on whether they have or havent, i.e. the folks who were wounded on 9-11 at the Pentagon?

using the Dept of Defense logic - Ft. Hood is than just a large business complex that than should be taxed. n So the State of Texas simply informs the DOD. By the way we see you as a business complex and you are behind in your taxes pay up ypur taxes, or as a State we will close you down and will take over the trial of Dr Hasan. The Defense Department document says that to expand the Purple Heart criteria to include “domestic criminal acts or domestic terror attacks would be a dramatic departure” from traditional criteria.

OTOH, women in combat and homosexuals serving openly were "changes that were long overdue."

There needs to be a mass Courts-Martial of a lot of military folks if they continue to pander to Islamic Terrorism via Major Hassan. Each one of them are giving aid and comfort to the enemy

Can you imagine....it was not too long ago that someone who committed such a treasonous crime would have been tenemried and executed by now.
