billion in gold reserves back from the Federal Reserve. State Rep. Giovanni Capriglione is sponsoring a bill that would establish the Texas Bullion Depository, a state-based bank to house the gold bars owned by the University of Texas Investment Management Company, The Texas Tribune reports. Mr. Capriglione told the Texas Tribune that the measure is not about putting Texas on its own gold standard, [but instead will] give the state a reputation as being more financially secure in the event

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
U.S. Gov.: “What gold?”
Hold the oil and the ammo, along with the bullion
Hold your own power grid and seafront.
Step 1 toward secession?
No it is just a ghost of that.
A ghost called the 10th amendment.
Perry believes in states rights.
I hope so. That’s how every break-up or divorce starts. One wants their stuff back while the other says no.
Your money's not stored in the vault, Governor Perry. It's lent out to Cypriot banks, triple leveraged gold hedge funds and as collateral to the Chinese treasury. If you want it, just sign this form and you'll get it back in a hundred years or so. Depending on the breaks.
We have a pretty good fiscal record.
Hell, I want Texas back from the United States before we have more gay weddings than we have executions.
Can we store books there too?
Gov. Perry has suggested several times over the past 4 or 5 years that Texas may leave the union. There is historical support for this, although the issue was later clouded and it is far from certain that the majority of Texans would be ready to support such an effort “if push came to shove.” That there is a lot of support for it is beyond doubt, however.....and....so.....?
At any event, the state does still have another most interesting option... expressly provided by its admission documents, namely that it may split itself into a grand total of up to 5 “conveniently sized” states if it wishes. This unique power, if exercised, would give 10 US Senators form the (current bounds of) Texas...
might the politics of this be interesting, eh?
I believe my Great State of Texas will be standing in line behind Germany because there ain’t not gold in them there vaults....done been lent out over and over and over again.
What.....so Rick Perry can give it to the Communist Chinese so he can build his NAFTA StupidHighway?
Must be getting close to election time...as Rick Perry stops being a Liberal Communist Globalist around this time
LOL.Bad news for the fed if this becomes a trend.I’m no finance expert, but i’d bet they don’t have anywhere near actual gold to honor their obligations.Pucker factor probably a 9.5 out of 10 at the fed.
No way. Texas could not give up all that federal land and federal state welfare it receives. It does sound good seceding, but in reality states are attached to the federal titties and won't make it on their own including Texas.
