AFP - With Thermos bottles, sleeping bags and a few good books, about a dozen people lined up Friday to be among the first to attend oral arguments at the US Supreme Court on gay marriage.
Never mind that the hearings don't begin until next Tuesday. They said they were determined to have front-row seats at one of the year's most anticipated sessions of the highest court in the nation.

I don’t know.
Are the Russians coming around after half or more of a century of atheistic communism, and it will happen to us in the same way, give or take a few decades?
We certainly have a lot of people who want to preserve our culture.
Rubio is not one of them by the way.
It’s a strange world these days, ain’t it?
Even better will be this week’s oral arguments live thread! Stay tuned. ;p
What I never understand when people line up days in advance, is, what if they have to go to the bathroom????
Some people are ‘professional’ paid placeholders.

Here’s another article that can’t be posted at FR. It discusses the possible outcomes of both cases.
This method has been very effective for them since the long march begain a half century ago. Will is sway our SCOTUS Justices?
One’s rights are unlimited until it interferes with the life and liberty of another.
Would you ping me on that thread?
(Of course it will probably be easy to find at the top of Breaking News and Headline sidebar.)
Marriage already is taxed. It starts with the Marriage license, continues through the IRS Tax Code in the "Marriage Penalty", and ultimately ends in either the Divorce Court or the Death Tax and Estate Tax.
So it'll be impossible for Roberts to find marriage a "tax" ... it already is.
A poster above predicted 6-3 for gay marriage. Hate to say it, but I'm inclined to agree. No way Roberts votes against it, and Kennedy's always been a social liberal.
Lol. We are all slaves. God granted us nothing.
What comfort is that? It is great comfort and consolation knowing that you are on the side of God's law and natural law. It helps to know that the actions of principalities and powers are illegal when they violate and deny your God-given rights.
Sir Thomas Moore had that peace and strong quiet confidence when they put him to death. I'd rather die free (freedom includes abiding in the knowledge of God's love and law on my behalf) than live believing man can separate me from God's love and law of liberty.
Man can take away my physical life but not my RIGHT to physical life. The infanticide of 60 million + unborn doesn't change their RIGHT to life. And all man can do is send people to Heaven forever. They couldn't take away Paul the Apostle's right to freedom by putting him in prison and they couldn't take away his spiritual freedom. He was probably one of the freest people to ever live because he knew he was free regardless of how man chose to violate his right to liberty. And what Paul wrote in prison (two-thirds of the New Testament) has set more people free in the last 2000 years than any other writing. Paul could not have written those words of Liberty if he himself wasn't truly free.
I just wish God would tap the Cascadia Subduction Zone, the San Andreas, and the New Madrid all at the same time and let everyone know Who is STILL Boss.
This country is overdue for complete destruction.
What if they have to go to the bathroom???? They act like dogs in all ways.
Scalia states that States should allow the people to vote on the abortion issue—he doesn’t think it should be a Federal issue.
We are not a “democracy” when it comes to Natural Rights. It is unalienable individual rights, which is unique to the US because our Rights come from God-—they were never “granted” by the Constitution-—that document is to PROTECT our Natural Rights from government tyranny==whether “voted” by majority or judicial fiat—depriving any human being (even in the womb) of his Natural Rights is unconstitutional.
Children have a right to life-—they have a Natural Right to have their biological parents raise them——at least a system which encourages biological parents to do their PRIMARY Natural DUTY in life-—to raise their own offspring.
Is there going to be anyone there to argue against gay marriage, or is this going to be a slam-dunk for the pro-gay side?
and it’s supposed to snow/rain for about 18 straight hours before the hearing, from @ 5am Monday thru midnight Monday/Tuesday, with temps not to rise above mid 30s.
Wasn’t part of Roberts’s argument on Obamacare that it is not the Supreme Court’s job to overturn the results of elections? The people voted for Obama and the Democrat House and Senate that voted in Obamacare so it should stand. The people of CA voted for Prop 8 so it should stand.
