The governor said Friday he had vetoed a bill that would have allowed Utah residents to carry a hidden, unloaded gun without a permit.
It was one of the most hotly contested measures to come out of the Utah Legislature this year.

Can his veto be overridden?
I prefer my guns to be loaded anyway.
Can his veto be overridden?
I think there will be an attempt to do so.
“Republican House Speaker Becky Lockhart has said the bill is veto-proof because it won two-thirds of House and Senate votes.”
Republicans. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Why would you want to carry a hidden, unloaded gun?
Republican House Speaker Becky Lockhart has said the bill is veto-proof because it won two-thirds of House and Senate votes.
How is this a defeat?
“House Speaker Rebecca Lockhart, a Provo Republican, said it’s not clear if there’s enough support among lawmakers for an override...
“People are on record on this issue,” she said. “But a veto override is a pretty serious thing. It’s nothing that we’re going to rush into.”
Weenies!
How does that apply to wheel guns?
one empty chamber
“I prefer my guns to be loaded anyway.”
Yeah, for sure. What’s this law about anyway? Can’t quite see the purpose....
Huh? What kind of dumb idea is that?
If Utah is that anti-gun, Feinstein has a right to be mad at Reid.
Here in TX we once had a Governor who thought she knew what was best for us. No concealed weapons for you, she dictated. Next election ol bitch Ann Richards was defeated. I was sure glad to see her go.
Utah’s definition of unloaded is essentially “no round in the chamber” for semi-autos, and “no round under the hammer plus two mechanical actions required to fire” for revolvers.
Let us hope and pray the veto is over-ridden.
May as well outlaw rocks...An unloaded gun in your pocket is no more effective than a rock in the other pocket...One is just as lethal as the other...
Ahhh those were the days, weren't they? When the nation and the majority of its citizens still seemed to make some sense.
What's the point of carrying an unloaded gun? You'd be better off carrying a concealed pipe wrench.
