Ann Coulter berates GOP for their divisions on immigration policy in CPAC speech

Laine Milam

Ann CoulterAs she has done many times before, bestselling author Ann Coulter delivered an uncensored critique of the Republican party at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference. Her criticisms this year were harshest when it came to the party’s current divide on the topic of comprehensive immigration reform.

Following up on her column from last month, Coulter argued that the GOP needs to have a tough but cohesive message on immigration policy, but not the one that many party leaders have touted lately.

“One public policy that will harm average Americans, drive up unemployment permanently, and is supported by businessmen who will never vote for a Republican anyway, is amnesty for illegal aliens,” she said.

She went on to outline the consequences of Republican support for amnesty and how it could lead to the destruction of the conservative movement.

“If amnesty goes through, America becomes California, and no Republican will ever win another national election. The state that gave us Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan will never elect another Republican,” said Coulter.

Coulter’s tough stance on immigration reform helped attendees understand why she could not support a popular figure like Chris Christie, who is pro-amnesty, for president in 2016. She instead offered her thoughts on who the GOP should nominate for the top of the ticket in three years.

“You can’t run a congressman. I have learned that,” she said. “You can’t run a governor from a state that is as big as a congressional district. That’s the equivalent of running a congressman. And we can’t run businessmen, pundits, or candidates who have not won elections in at least midsize states.”

So who does that leave for the ultra-conservative pundit? Options that fit Coulter’s bill included Gov. Brian Sandoval of Nevada, Gov. Susana Martinez of New Mexico, Gov. Rick Snyder of Michigan, Gov. Paul LePage of Maine, Gov. Rick Scott of Florida, Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana, and Gov. John Kasich of Ohio. She was also willing to back the new kid on the block, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

Coulter needs to start eating more frequently so there will less time for her to speak and to begin to emulate her NJ donut man.

I'm confused. I thought Coulter was a big Chris Christie fan. I was pretty sure of that. I am less sure of this other point: I thought Coulter had become somewhat soft on amnesty.

Two possibilities: My memory is faulty, or Coulter is making a play to regain some of her lost popularity.

I still love her books, but I lost respect for her backing the Sears suit model for President.

Ann thinks she can make up for that faux pas with the Romney guy.

She can't!

Anne makes really bad choices when it comes to men..
Romney, Christy, Maher... and God knows who else..

Maybe a liberal father or Uncle abused her.. her books don’t reflect those choices..
MAybe there is a Stockholm Syndrome going on here..
Romney and Christy and Maher are protagonists in her books..
They are THE very PEOPLE she mocks..

Something bipolar going on with that girl...

Illegal immigrants should be denied jobs. Easiest way to accomplish that is to place fines on employers or those who do business with firms operated by illegals. If that was done, illegals will self-deport.

But I will not hold my breath.

I remember reading that when it came out. Her disdain for amnesty has remained consistent.

Glad she’s so vocally anti-amnesty, but quite frankly I find it impossible to put much stock in anything she says after her rabid support of both Romney and Christie. Not that she’s exactly alone... after the past four years, I’ve pretty much dumped well over half of the so-called conservative “voices” I used to follow. When the rubber hit the road, they sided with the big-government, establishment elites over the grassroots tea-party crowd. Beholden to the beltway. Just don’t trust them anymore.

She’s a used-car salesman, will say anything to anyone at anytime if she thinks it will benefit her.

Ditto. When push came to shove, too many “conservative” voices folded. There are a number of them that I admired before. They are no longer deserving of my attention and I won’t listen to them anymore.

And I will bet that 90% of those who complain about Coulter’s backing of Romney just went ahead and helped re-elect Obama, since they no doubt STAYED HOME when they could have kicked Obama’s ass out of the WH last year. Maybe that’s not you.

Maybe you didn’t take the coward’s way out and maybe you pulled the lever to defeat Obama. Righteous bastards who refused to do the courageous thing by turning out and voting against Obama, and instead gagged on Election day, make me sick and angry. How dare they complain about anyone who had the guts to attempt the defeat of Obama—hate Romney or not.

Or else that same 90% who complain about Ann likely weigh 300+ and have a grudge against fit people.

Maybe that’s not you either.

The bottom line is quite simple, our party, our cause, and our country will be doomed if we can’t break the race barrier.

If we do however managed to break the race barrier we can expect to win landslides elections for the next generation.

There is no higher priority that breaking this barrier.
