Mark Kelly's campaign against "assault weapons" such as the AR-15 rifle has sparked a local backlash. On March 13, a Tucson, Arizona radio host published a photograph of former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords holding an AR-15 rifle at a gun range. Giffords has since confirmed that the photograph is authentic. James T. Harris, blogging at the website of "101.4 FM The Truth," wrote:
What is wrong with this picture? Absolutely nothing, and prior to the aggressive progressive opportunistic fear mongering in the wake of Sandy Hook, this picture would have raised no eyebrows and garnered little public attention.
However, in response to the exploitative political scheming of Mark Kelly, persons connected to Congresswoman Giffords released this photo in response to what they perceived to be her husbands hypocrisy.

I like that AK! Got a Romanian version of one recently.
So yes, Rep. Giffords was out practicing on a target of a school age child. In the context of Columbine, before the photo, and Adam Lanza after the photo that is pretty creepy.
Personally I don't know any people who like to shoot at realistic targets of teenagers. I wonder if Rep. Giffords would be uncomfortable if she came upon some young men shooting at pictures of school students, or realistic portrayals of adults in positions of authority. I sure would be.
It kinda looks like there’s a hole for the face, like in the old-fashioned boardwalk carnival, where you can look like a circus strongman. Would that be a real person sticking his face in there, or is that just another picture taped to the hole?
Do a search engine on “no hesitation targets”. Kinda scary.
Ah, the bigger picture shows me that that’s a picture of a face. I wonder who that is, and who went to the trouble to tape that face in there. (And whose face it is.)
Do a search engine on no hesitation targets. Kinda scary.
Hey! That gun even has the “round thing on top that holds boolit thingies!” Remember that one?
In all fairness, the target dude is holding a machine pistol, not a bag of groceries.
Or an airsoft toy. Hard to tell if the orange tip is there in black and white - or low light level conditions. More kids own airsoft machine pistols than real machine pistols.
Something one needs to consider before killing some kid.
Looks like your basic Vietnam War milled AK-47 except for the AKM style forearm.
Gabby Giffords is truly a tragic figure. Grievously wounded, once a politician & now only politically useful.
Hey, I’m lucky to reckognize it’s an AK at all...
and there you go getting all “fancy” on me. “)
Love it!
Interesting how, one by one, these anti-Constitution idiots start showing their true colors.
The three position safety also reveals that it’s a genuine select-fire assault rifle.
haha! That was my first thought when I saw that photo...”Isn’t that a large mag too?”
I’ll give her props for it though...nice looking weapon.
Well....it reminded me of the AK’s I saw in Vietnam. I flew Hueys & when we picked up long range patrol guys they brought all kinds of captured s***. Most were tired looking like the one shown, some were brand new, none were `bringbackable’ tho some did manage to mail them home a piece at a time. Heck toward the end in 1972 there were so many messed up people that customs MPs told me `we’re only looking for drugs’. I could have brought back a like new AK in my Pioneer stereo speakers but chose not to.
Then a few years later the Chicoms were exporting legal AK’s so I bought one & stayed legal.
The one question I do have about this whole “high capacity magazine” debate. As I understand it, Feinstein’s bill would ban any magazine over 10 rounds. Are there any 10 round AR type magazines made? I’m thinking the smallest you can buy in a true AR style rifle is a 20 round mag. Would that mean all AR mags would be outlawed for sale and eventually our AR’s would be useless because we would have no more magazines to put in them when our current ones run out?
Just wondering...
Hey, I had some of those speakers back in 1990’s - you could have easily hid a carbine in them...
Wow! Missed that! Would be interesting to know where & when Rep. Giffords was handling a full-auto AK, tho it’s obvious she was not ready to fire (safety is on, too.).
