Rome - The Holy Mass in honor of the late President of Venezuela Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias will be held tomorrow Friday, March 8 at 7 pm in the Church of Santa Maria ai Monti, Via della Madonna dei Monti, 41, presided by Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino, Archbishop of Caracas who is in Rome to attend the conclave that will elect the new Pope. This was communicated to Fides by Cardinal Urosa Savino himself and called on all Venezuelans to participate in the Eucharist. http://www.news.va/en/news/americave...-the-late-pres

CARDINAL Jorge Urosa Sabino, Archbishop of Venezuela, who is in the Vatican to participate in the conclave to appoint a new pope, announced that he will celebrate in Rome: A public Mass to pray for the eternal repose of President Chávez.
This, despite the fact that Chávez, who died this week aged 58, had a major falling out with the Church a few years back. According to this report, in 2008, he called Cardinal Urosa a troglodyte and warned the Vatican that, as long as the cardinal remained as archbishop of Caracas:
I will remain very far away from the Church. - http://freethinker.co.uk/2013/03/07/troglodite-catholic-cardinal-will-hold-a-public-mass-in-rome-for-late-venezuelan-president-hugo-chavez/

Chávez was a Catholic. He intended at one time to become a priest. He saw his socialist policies (Liberation Theology) as having roots in the teachings of Jesus Christ,[361] and he publicly used the slogan of "Christ is with the Revolution!"[362] He had some disputes with both the Venezuelan Catholic clergy and Protestant groups like the New Tribes Mission.[363][364] Although he traditionally kept his own faith a private matter, Chávez over the course of his presidency became increasingly open to discussing his religious views, stating that both his faith and his version of Jesus' personal life and ideology had a profound impact on his Liberation Theology. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Ch%C3%A1vez#Personal_life
Abused spouse syndrome.

Liberation theology is ANTI-Christ.
Can sainthood be far behind?
He might have repented; we don’t know.
Once they’ve pumped his ugly hide full of preservatives and shoved it into the glass viewing casket they’re going set up for him, I hope the Venezuelans will focus on the future and take back their country. And I’m sure the Church will support this.
Chavez had serious conflicts with the Church over the years and only a few of the bishops had the guts to oppose him and stake out their territory. Probably the only reason Chavez wasn’t even worse is thanks to the Church, so while this wasn’t a perfect solution, it probably did make things easier for Christians in VZ.
Saw Jesse Jackson on c-span preaching the funeral. Penn sitting on the front row crying holding hand with a family member. Disgusting.
i beleive in death bed confessions and forgiveness, and it is a good thing I have no say in God’s Mercy.

God works in mysterious ways ...
If he genuinely had any religion, it was probably something syncretic along the lines of santeria.
Obviously some latin american roman catholics are very very delusional..
Hugo was evil incarnate..
Could be a problem in North America as well..
Pretty doubtful he woke up in the bosom of Abraham. It’s more a commentary of the socialist corruption of the church.
As to Mahmoud Ahmanutjob, he has no role to play whatsoever despite his insolent prediction that the late Venezuelan dictator, among others, will accompany Christ back to earth. Let Ahmanutjob kiss his own coffin.
It is widely known based on history, that death or near death changes many people to believers in the universal God and to seeking the means/path to an eternal existence with God which they seemingly abhorred while breathing in this world. How God deals with such people is God’s choosing.
He went for the light and that familar smell of sulfur. Chavez died in the warm embrace of Satan’s colon.
Wow, that is insane.
He isn’t going to heaven
Nothing convinces me that, if he had recovered, he would have changed the direction of his life or the nature of his regime.
Only God knows, of course.
I’m sure facing death has a way of focusing your attention on the transcendental. But I don’t see any evidence that he ever thought he was wrong about anything.
If Chavez truly had faith in Christ in his heart when he died, then IMHO he was saved. But I SERIOUSLY doubt it.
