Comedy and television icon Bill Cosby slammed Republicans who failed to stand for President Obamas State of the Union speech, likening them to racists who opposed desegregation.
I think we have people sitting there, he said, referring to the presidents SOTU speech, during a CNN television interview reported by Mediaite, who are as bad as the people who were against any kind of desegregation.
His comments came in context of a discussion about racism and the 1965 Bloody Sunday march across Selma, Ala., Mediate reported. Rep. Connie Mack said its just hard to believe, and its unbelievable, in reference to the level of racism that marked that decade, Mediate reported.
I dont think so, Mr. Cosby said, Mediate reported. Not when you look at the presidents speech recently.
Thats when he made the remarks about those who failed to stand for Mr. Obamas speech. He didnt say Republicans but it was members of the Republican Party, not Democratic Party, who failed to stand.
And then in place of a better America, they want their own sick feelings put across and
it isnt a good time, he said, as Mediate reported. But I think, also on our part as professors and presidents of colleges all over, and in public schools, we need to get the education of the correct history that happened so people can say, Yes, this really did happen.

I don’t pretend to compare my life to yours but as a
conservative Californian I see a lot disturbing blanket
statements from folks who should be my friends here
at FR so I have at least a small idea of your concern.
Assuming Ben Carson is another ,you were in great company ( and so is he).
You have to understand what happened in the black community to have an understanding of why they tend to vote Democrat. It wasn’t just government bribery that won the black community over. It was also untold brutality from Democratic thugs, who would brutalize any blacks who dared vote against Democrat politicians and this brutality went on for a few generations, until the majority of blacks couldn’t see any other way. I’ve had discussions with many blacks about how personal responsibility, self sufficiency, and self-honesty are the keys to personal prosperity and many of them just cannot detach themselves away from the idea that a guaranteed government cheque is the way to provide for the economically disadvantaged.
Mind you, the Republicans don’t do themselves any favors in the black community. The number one complaint that I got from blacks was the seemingly deliberate disengagement of the Republican community to the black community. It seems the GOP leadership does not see the value in holding town hall meetings in black communities, the Republicans seem content with the idea that blacks should seek them out, not the other way around.
Apparently, real Americans oppose Obama because we’re racist. Apparently, we oppose Hillary because we’re sexist. Apparently, we oppose communism and socialism because we’re closed-minded. Apparently, we support the actual Constitution of the United States and the actual Bible because we’re living in the past. The reality? The far left is quick to judge, label, and use rhetorical tactics instead of considering inconvenient facts.
> When it comes to Obama, every Black in the United States has a screw loose.
Every black? Come on now. 4-5 % did not vote for him this past election, including me.
It’s never been about race for me as I’m sure it’s not for most FR’pers. It’s about the man’s ideologies, actions, and lack of integrity. It’s good to know we have some diversity here and not just a bunch of old white men whining and complaining as I’m sure the liberals would define us. They don’t seem to understand character and values the way Patriots do and why we don’t like the direction our country is headed.
Part of the problem is that they (at least the racist segment of those with that particular ethnicity) have made it “their community.” I have white skin, but my identity is not bound to any “white community.” Talk about two different standards.
It only appears that Obama is not partly Caucasian. Tens of millions of people voted for Obama because of the color of his skin and his radical views, which aren’t necessarily “black”.
I’d be willing to bet that whites were the largest part of Bill’s fans. He would be nowhere without whitey.
If we search the C-Span video archive, will we see the Congressional Black Caucus
actually standing and clapping for George W. Bush or Ronaldus Magnus?
(If you do search C-Span, also see if Jesse Jackson Jr.
wears Michael Jackson's fedora on the House floor.)
I think his comments are as racist as those of us he falsely portrays.
Once again for a clueless Bill Cosby: I dislike Obama because he is a Marxist, corrupt politician who has done & continues to do long term serious damage to this country - financially, socially, & racially. He is lazy & incompetent. He is a prolific liar. He hates America & white people. He is a divider, not a uniter. I base my assessment of Obama on his actions as President, not his skin tone.
And, if a black President is beyond legitimate criticism, if policy critics are to be called racist by racists, then I will never support another.
Great summary, spot on. I oppose hussein because of his policies and politics, that’s it. I’m not the same race as he is, but that has never been an issue for me, nor a contributing factor in my support or lack thereof for hussein. When people like Mr. Cosby make assumptions about me based on my race - because it differs from hussein’s - that is racism. Sorry Bill, examine your own reasoning and motivations.
So Bill, did the koolaid taste good?
+1
I can only imagine your pain. I assume it’s like having a murderer in your family and you just have to suffer the humiliation even though you did nothing wrong.
I will say and you probably agree, the 95% of black people bring about racism because of their own actions. I used to admire Bill Cosby but he is a racist agitator. No true American condones racist behavior. When will people grow up and take responsibility for their OWN actions? I used to think that is what Cosby preached but I guess I was wrong. A lot of people do have a screw loose!
It’s sad that Cosby is so short sided and disolays racial favoritism of his own.
If President Obama had the basic economics savvy of a Thomas Sowell or a Walter Williams, the education knowledge of Joe Clark or John McWhorter, or the Knowledge and political skills of Herman Cain or Allen West, and the demeanor of Ben Carson, I’d vote for him in a heart beat.
I guess that makes me a racist.
But he seemed so nice as that Doctor Huxtable. I mean him and his family seemed so much like us. We just wanted it that way to be real.
Now the bottle is uncorked and the bad genie is not going back inside.
Maybe Cosby should do another teaching sitcom and play a gay illegal alien.
So if one opposes Obama and supports people such as Allen West, Condi Rice, Thomas Sowell etc. that person is a racist! Cosby......an intellectual genius....not!
Cosby has long been known as a racist. His wife blamed the murder of their son on racism.
I am not at all surprized to hear this; I would bet the WH sent him out to deliver this screed in retaliation for Obama’s falling poll numbers.
Black politics knows no rhyme or reason; they just see their chance to stick it to “Whtitie America”. It could be anything... If Obama says we should accept his position on Gay Marriage, we’re racist if we disagree; If he says we should confiscate more money from the “well-to-do”, we are racist if we disagree; If he says that growing government and spending more money is good, we are racist of we disagree; Hell, if he says we are racists if we disagree with him, then we’re racist if we disagree. Theirs is a politics based on vengeful envy and stick-it-to-um-ism.
