OBERLIN — Classes for Oberlin College and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music have been canceled today so students and faculty members can discuss homophobic and racial statements that have been plaguing the campus.
College spokesman Scott Wargo said that statements were written on posters all over campus. According to a letter on the college’s website, there was a report Monday morning of a person wearing a hood and robe resembling a Klu Klux Klan outfit near Edmonia Lewis Center and the Afrikan Heritage Center.
“This report is being investigated by both Safety and Security and the Oberlin Police Department,” college president Marvin Krislov and other faculty wrote in the letter. “This event, in addition to the series of other hate-related incidents on campus, has precipitated our decision to suspend formal classes and all non-essential activities for today, Monday, March 4, 2013, and gather for a series of discussions of the challenging issues that have faced our community in recent weeks.”
There will be a teach-in led by the Africana Studies Department at noon in the Lord Lounge at the Afrikan Heritage House. At 2 p.m. a demonstration of solidarity will be held at the Wilder Bowl. The day will finish off with a community convocation at 3:30 p.m. at the Finney Chapel. The concovation was previously scheduled for Wednesday.

That sounds odd. "Africana" means "African woman" in Italian, but as far as I know, the word "Afrikan," if it isn't a misspelling, doesn't exist in any language.
And for every attack motivated by racial animus or “homophobia”, there are at least 100 fabricated reports.
For every attack by whites on blacks motivated by racial animus there are dozens, if not hundreds, by blacks on whites. They just aren’t reported. I would also bet that homos kill far, far more homos than straights do. The cops in homo ghettos call it “homocide”.
