Obama DHS Purchases 2,700 Light-Armored Tanks to Go With Their 1.6 Billion Bullet Stockpile

This is getting a little creepy. According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm. DHS also purchased 2,700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP). (30-35,0000 drones are on order--being built in Starkville, Miss.)

Modern Survival Blog reported: The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.

Although I’ve seen and read several online blurbs about this vehicle of late, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself.

The new DHS sanctioned ‘Street Sweeper’ (my own slang due to the gun ports) is built by Navistar Defense (NavistarDefense.com), a division within the Navistar organization. Under the Navistar umbrella are several other companies including International Trucks, IC Bus (they make school buses), Monaco RV (recreational vehicles), WorkHorse (they make chassis), MaxxForce (diesel engines), and Navistar Financial (the money arm of the company).

DHS even released a video on their newly purchased MRAPs. LINK AT WEB SITE ---Via Pat Dollard:

The MRAP featured in the video was in Albuquerque, New Mexico for Law Enforcement Day which was held at a local area Target Store. This MRAP is stationed in El Paso, Texas at The Homeland Security Investigations Office. MRAP is a Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicle.

Hooty, DHS don’t collect taxes.

Knowing the dems, these 2700 Light Armored vehicles, were supposed to go to Iraq or Afganistan and were cut. Now some dem friend/contributor is selling them instead to DHS.

DHS with tanks is not unlike Iraq with tanks, just made really great fireworks displays. Also we need to remember that nobama really really likes to anounce things like this if for no other reason that to stir us up, he’s done it many times and no much ever came of them.

But hey, freaking out can be fun too.

Would you people stop faulting Bush for everything? You’re worse than the Rats.

If you could explain the close relationship the Bush family has with the Saudi family then maybe we would relent.

Islam is a religion of peace. Remember that?

Yes I’m very familiar with these.
One of my old bosses went on to become an executive at Force Protection.

The question that should be loudly and publicly raised is “Why are all these ‘No Hesitation’ targets pictures of white people? Does this mean that police need no additional training to shoot Persons of Color without hesitation?”.

Lol. On a serious note, the train was coming from either S.E. GA or Florida. It does make me wonder if the armored vehicles are manufactured around here, or if they were just moving them around.

How many people are willing to break laws in order to defy their tyrannical (but lawfully empowered) leaders?

Not many, and most of them are over 60 so offer little threat.

Wonder why they were coming north from the direction of FL then? Hmm.

My totally uninformed guess is that these were vehicles coming back from Iraq and landed at a port in Florida.

They almost never ever operate alone, and one of the main tasks of the vehicle commander up on top with the light machine gun is to “dust off” his buddies by shooting anybody who gets near or on the other vehicles. His light MG isn’t going to damage the armor of the other vehicle, but it will keep that brave person with a molotov coctail out of throwing range.

“Bucket of paint from an overpass.”

The other three vehicles will be keeping bucket man’s head down, or blow it off. That’s why they rarely operate alone, unless it’s on convoy protection duty, with an ASV at each end at least. But in those convoys, even the trucks have MGs.

Folks think it terms of ambushing a single vehicle, which is why they train in group tactics.

Folks are so deluded about UAVs. They have seen a few stories of a hunt club shooting down an AMATEUR (think Radio Shack) quad rotor, and think REAL UAVs can be shot down.

From little Ravens up to giant Predators, they operate above audible and visual range from the ground. With zoom optics, visual and FLIR, they see you clearly, when you don’t see or hear them at all.

I wish folks would get a clue about REAL drones.

I was really just commenting on the sheer number and why in the world you would need, what? 35,000?

But, when you think about it, they gotta take off from somewhere. I guess

To disable the vehicle for longer would take a bit more; blinding the driver's vision is an effective move.

Yup, and loading the engine intake with ether, propane or other light fuel would lock up a running engine or send it into overspeed. Ever seen a runaway diesel engine explode? I have seen the results and it is a mess to clean up.
