"The Bible", History Channel, 8/7 p.m., Sunday, 3/03/2013
Actually, It was Lot whose daughters knew their father’s behavior when drunk with wine. The Bible simply flat out tells the story without comment pro or con though eventually the nations birthed out that incest would be the future enemies of Israel!
God was busy establishing a holy genetic line and a called out people. He would establish the moral laws, including the laws against incest in just over 500 years from that time. Until then there was no law to “bring about the consciousness of sin” and people did pretty much what they thought was right in their own eyes.
Yet within Abraham’s line, thru Isaac then thru Jacob God was already at work establishing an internal consciousness of what was right and wrong. We see evidence of this when Joseph, tempted with the pleasures of his Master’s wife, declared he would not do this great sin, and then ran. God was with Joseph and gave him his law in Joseph’s inward parts.
The only thing good that I did see and I did miss the first 45 minutes was about the Moses and the “burning bush” which brought back the memory for me of the first reading from my parishe’s Sunday mass readings.
Talking about “miracles”, I did see for those first 45 something on ESPN about what happened a few years back in Atlanta, GA, about a tornado that hit the famous Georgia Dome during the SEC men’s college b-ball basketball tournament and a sending of the basketball into the net during the time that the stadium was getting hit by that tornado which while the roof stayed up, their was concerns about safety.
People still watch this channel? It hasn’t been good since “Tales of the gun” stopped being produced.
He won’t last long with his attitude. Posting history:

Note how he is advising J.R.
Sword swinging, bloodied angels of Sodom? Moses as a half nuts street person? The whole production was sad.
Clarence is an Angel Second Class and is called by Joseph (supposedly St. Joseph) to perform a mission. In “It’s a Wonderful Life”. In the movie he is an angel, But in the Good Book, I’m afraid not!

My post was simply early morning light humor with the “IAWL” movie reference.
It was not to be taken as a scholarly comment to be attacked.
Lighten up, Francis!
Troll rumandmonkey zotted.
Yet it all changed when the nation of Israel came back to life again and when Bible archology took off in the sucess of Bible period discoveries. The Holy Bible came to LIFE.
Please see post number 91. Thank-you.
So you’re saying the Bible is like evolution. Not really a science but more a religion for the easily duped?
Pray for America
Been a Christian as far back as my memory will take me, studied the Bible all my life, I am happy they are doing this program but it is so vague and confusing, I don’t know how anyone who had not studied the Bible could follow it.
A great Bible BTW is the Archeological study Bible.

This is the way the Bible should be studied along with the history and the cultures

I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.
More than just no Exodus...the “nation of Israel” only existed in the first place because Joseph’s family came up to Egypt during the famine...and one thing led to another. Stunning they would leave that story out...
Apparently a false alarm. rumandmonkey is still alive.

For that reason (failure to "tell the story of God and His people" to those who have never opened the Bible), and skimming over very important parts such as why God told Abraham to cast Haggar and Ishmael out of the land, the story of Jacob's name change and very importantly, the story of Joseph, give it a D grade, maybe.
As my husband said a few times, if you didn't know what actually happened, you wouldn't know what happened by watching the show.
On an actual historical level, I'd give it a. F!
The show skimmed over many very important facts and clouded the ones it purported to depict, i.e. Sodom and Gomorrah! My husband asked me, "who were those two guys going into Sodom," and "who was the guy talking to Abraham" as he watched the destruction from a distance.
I'd have been shocked and amazed had the show actually depicted the real reason for Sodom's destruction.
Neither the producers nor Hollywierd would have been prepared to have it go forward, mostly because they don't believe it themselves!
If they have actually read it and know the truth, they would have blotted it out simply because they don't wish to admit the truth (a greater sin in God's eyes)!
