Future? We’ve had an epidemic of metal bandits for the past few years.
It is happening here now. Down on their luck men are taking anything they can steal.
You mean our grim present. Copper thieves are rampant throughout Texas, breaking into abandoned homes or any abandoned building to strip copper, plumbing fixtures, and anything of value. It’s getting to be a problem.
In a Mad Max economy people will be bartering with stolen bronze plaques....Greece is moving in this direction
Come to NC and see this. You don’t need to go way over to Greece. They’ve been stealing whole Central Air units, copper gutters and man hole covers here, for years.
Not the future. It's already happening in a big way. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't scrap metal our leading export to China? Much of this coming from good, usable machines that have no value here but as scrap because there is nothing to use them for.

It is not lit at night because the thiefs are going after the lighting infrastructure mainly street lights and note, this is a city own and operated operation if my memory is correct. To the point one guy recently electrocuted himself doing it....
