Sidenote: First recorded by Bo Carter in 1928, however, it was not copyrighted until 1932 by publishers Mitchell Parish and J. Mayo Williams. The song has traditional roots with one of the earliest versions being the commercial sheet music "Has Anybody Seen My Corrine?" published by Roger Graham in 1918. Vernon Dalhart recorded a vocal version in 1918 that differs from the current version, and Wilbur Sweatman's Original Jazz Band put out an instrumental of "Corrine" the same year. In 1926 Blind Lemon Jefferson recorded a song entitled "Corrina Blues" which seems the inspiration for the Bo Carter version.
Prior to World War II, Bob Wills adapted "Corrine, Corrina" to a Western swing dance song. Following his recording with The Texas Playboys in 1940, the song entered the standard repertoire of all Western swing bands, influencing the adoption of "Corrine, Corrina" by Cajun bands and later by individual country artists.
During the American folk music revival of the 1960s Bob Dylan began playing a version he titled "Corrina, Corrina". Although his blues based version contains lyrics and song structure from "Corrine Corrina", his melody is lifted from "Stones in My Passway" recorded by Robert Johnson in 1937. Dylan's version also borrows lyrics taken from Johnson's song: I got a bird that whistles, I got a bird that sings.
I got a bird that whistles, I got a bird that sings.
Those lyrics and Johnson's melody have become a hallmark of all contemporary versions ranging from Jerry Lee Lewis to Joni Mitchell to Led Zeppelin. Leo's version is unique in that he performs in the style of 1950s Italian-American rock and roll guitar duo Santo and Johnny Farina (best known for their instrumental "Sleep Walk").
Corrina, Corrina

Puccini: "One Fine Day" from "Madame Butterfly"Based on David Belasco's play, it's the story of a 15 year old geisha procured as the concubine of B. F. Pinkerton, American sailor. Here she sings about the day she thinks he will return to marry her. Boy, is she in for an unpleasant surprise!
Luv, have a box of tissues ready.

There's a song of his I remember from the early 60's that I've been trying to find for years - not his biggest hit, but one of his best, IMHO. "Somewhere In The Used To Be." Keep striking out on it!

My thoughts keep coming back to you.
Are you doing better now? I can’t even imagine what you have been dealing with but many on this board can & have been through it as well.
