Winter Storm Nemo; Historic Blizzard Looms
Weather Channel ^ | 02/07/13 | Dolce, Erdman

Posted on 02/07/2013 5:06:12 PM PST by GRRRRR

Here we go with another freak out about a winter storm. From naming it like a hurricane to generate more angst, to the continuing reminders that it "COULD" be a top ten storm in all time history, the weather guessers are doing the hype dance.

Granted, this one looks particularly nasty, but most sane people will grab some extra milk and get home early Friday before the main bands hit.

Take cover NE FReepers and keep us updated on how it's coming along.

Post lots of pics from your yards and neighborhoods so we can all OOOOH and AHHHH at the precip!!

Above all, stay safe, get off the roads early!!

New Hampshire ‘doubled down’ on abortion and the sodomite agenda on Election Day. They reject G-d. Just sayin’...

Hate to disappoint but the lowlifes won't suffer one bit. Unless you count walking across the street in 1 foot of snow for beer or drugs as suffering.

The ones sitting on the dole in the housing projects don't have to go anywhere and they have backup power/heat on standby courtesy of the taxpayer. Yes, some lost power in Sandy because the building's electrical was submerged in seawater but that wont happen today.

The people suffering today will be the hard working people still doing low-pay jobs in this city. Those who wont make their rent if they miss one day of work. Those whose quality of life would increase if they went on the dole, but still refuse to out of principle. Those who had the chance to go on disability for the rest of their lives but refused. They are the real Americans in this town and I know plenty of them.

You are right...there ARE people like that still out there.

I’ve experienced high plains blizzards and the snow belts of the Tug Hill Plateau...this thing today? Meh.

When I get off of this mountain, you know where I want to go?
Straight down the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico.
To Lake Charles, Louisianna, little Bessie, a girl who I once knew.
She told me just to come on by if there's anything that she could do.

Up on Cripple Creek, she sends me.
If I spring a leak, she mends me.
I don't have to speak, she defends me.
A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one.

Says we only had 27 inches of snow in Boston

Yeah, I was in Maine for it. Needed to ask a local farmer come plow us out with his bucket loader, because there was too much snow for the plow to move.

I was just a kid, but I remember it being well over my head. 27"? Maybe in a few of the bare spots. :-)

Bloomberg wants the schools open at least part of the day so NYC gets state money for the day.

I was on I95 in Delaware earlier. Huge convoy of utility trucks heading north. I assume they want to pre-position crews to restore service and avoid another Sandy debacle.

Even though there isn't any snow to speak of at the moment; Red Hampshire is shut down. I think I will take some time to catch up on or reflect on some decent YouTube videos...some interviews/sermons from Jonathan Cahn; the Prayer Breakfast speech from Benjamin Carson; 'Virtual President' Bill Whittle's Inauguration Speech; perhaps another viewing of 'Agenda: Grinding America Down'.

All much better than watching the hysteria from the communist media over the next forty-eight hours or so.

yeah, sure ~ we know there's some bad weather out there ~ did you notice that Helena is nestled at the base of mountains and is clearly laid out as TWO, not ONE, but TWO separate Spanish towns.

For some reason they missed the existence of gold in the stream-bed between the two towns ~ or maybe they didn't For whatever reason they walked off and left the place to rot until one day it was discovered by Americans trying to get in out of the wind and snow.

Other large cities up there? Feh!

This particular storm is coming down in a heavily urbanized part of the country so it's newsworthy to those folks. Helena can have a blizzard every day all winter and still no one cares!~

Many of your major media outlets are headquartered around New York...the world is only what they see outside their windows...Helena? Where’s that? :-)

Nope, incredibly, there was NO directive to send kids home early. I left at 2:15 p.m., when it started to turn over to snow. It was icy outside, and walkers were pelted by sleet. Very slippery to walk. And only going to get worse. A lot of schools don’t let out until 3 or 3:30 p.m. And a lot of the subway lines had delays. Not a situation I’d want kids to be out in. But, that’s Bloombutt to a T.

All this "epic" nonsense is just one more example of how too many among us have been conditioned to bounce from crisis to crisis like so many pinballs.

It's all about pimping climate change. Nothing else.

A prelude to "carbon taxes"

Radar indicating parts of Long Island being absolutely pounded right now...at the same time, sun spotted in New Jersey as it sets...

Here in New England, it's just your typical winter storm. I worked a full day today, even drove to Providence (from NH border) and back for a meeting. Had to be back by 4pm however due to that silly governor order threatening to throw me in jail for a year if I wasn't off the roads.

The one good thing about that order is that at least the snowplows will have the roads all to themselves to do their jobs so when the snow stops, I can go back to my regular routine all that much quicker.

Never once have I "panic shopped" at a grocery store. Nor am I a prepper. It's just that I'm a normal person who has sufficient canned/dry goods to last me a couple weeks. I'm not going hungry - or thirsty, for even if I lose power, I can put cans of beer out in the snowdrifts to keep cold. I'll be fine.
